OT--A Divorce Can Be Good.............

Post by Sixgun »

as long as its other people's. :D My crazy Italian wife of 39 years has made it very clear I will be living in a tent if I decide to play.

Well, on to "other people's divorces". Today I got up on the wrong side of the bed and decided I was not going to drive 150 miles round trip to the Hamburg Buffalo Shoot. My very good friend (and board member) Cimmaron Red e-mailed me the other day reminding me of this shoot. He lives 2,000 miles away and I am 75 miles from Hamburg. Yea, if it was not for him, I would miss most of the shoots around here. :D Thanks Gary!! :D

Oh! the divorces.-------Instead, I jumped in the Rubicon and cruised on down to my other hideout, Miller's Sporting Goods in Boothwyn, Pa. which is only 9 miles away. I walked in the door and Joe says to me, "hey Jack, I got something for you. I know you have always wanted one of these but were too cheap to pay regular price. This cat walked in a little while ago and said his old lady is divorcing him, so he needs to sell some guns".

Well, the guns were Taurus and some other foreign junk except..............this Springfield Armory National Match .308. :D I says, "How much and you had better "sharpen your pencil" on the price". :D He says, "How does 9 sound? The previous owner bought it here 2 months ago and shot 40 rounds out of it and its one of the reasons his wife is divorcing him. She said he has too many guns."

I said, "That cat is a fish, only a dope would sell his guns just because his "high maintenance" wife wants the money to get her nails and hair done like some Hollywood pig." Oh well, you can't tell these young guys nothin'-live and learn I guess.

As you boys know, these kind of guns are not my thing but with the savings I did by putting in my own clutch slave cylinder and transfer case a few weeks ago made it all possible to blow the bucks I had in my pocket. :D -----------------Sixgun

Hey! Where did this picture come from? Its a couple of shirts I picked up at the gun show last week. I included them for some laughs. :D

I have a personal philosophy that dictates that I will not be jealous or envious of another man's success or possessions.

I say "good for you".

HOWEVER, material coups like this test my fortitude. So, Congratulations.

Nice Sixgun, I think He broke the lead in the Pencil for that Price. I hear U about an Understanding Wife.We went to town today to buy a ceiling fan for the newly finished room. I stopped in front of the Candy Store and My Wife says "what R We doing here ? I said I have to pick up My Pistol ( that I forgot to tell Her about ) " Not a word did She say so I guess I am still Married. She didn't even ask How Much.
An M14 is on My list but at the Bottom, unless of course a deal like thhat comes up.

Well guys, a few boys called me up to tell me there were no matches scheduled for tomorrow, so that means the upper range (500 meters) is open for play. I says, "I'll be there, but your not gonna like what I bring." I can't tell them beforehand as they will not show up. We "is" cast bullet levergun nuts, :D and if I show up with a semi-auto thing-a-ma-jig, I'll be ostrasized. :D

Looks like I'll have to brown nose 'em by bringing some free 45-70 cast bullets. I always keep some undersized ones I picked out. They won't know the difference, they're Polish. :D -----------Sixgun

Perry, I see you have the better half trained real well. I bet that took some years doing that! :D

Wow, great rifle at a great price. I've been wanting one for a while and I'd leave a scorch mark on my back pocket whipping my wallet out at that price!!!

Thanks guys :D Well, guess what? At 56 years old and shootin' since I was 5, I could not get the energy or the enthusiasm to make it to the club today and test out the M1A.

OK, the truth-----my Italian wife made it clear that if I went to the club today on Mother's Day, I might as well bring some provisions with me and dig myself a hole while there. She said, "Take everything you can put in the Jeep, because everything else that's left will be in a smoldering pile when you get back". :D

OK, OK, the real truth---It is Mom's day, the sun is shining, and there's no place like home where I'd rather be. :D

May our God bless all the moms out there, because without them, John Browning would never have been born, and we would not be here talkin' Winchesters & Colts! Talk to you boys tonight! :D Sixgun :D

congrats- that is awesome.

I've always thought of the M1A (M14) as the epitome of a serious rifle.

I'm guessing to pay off the lawyer. Nice find. I got a nice low mileage Jeep YJ at a steal from a divorce sale.

Ha! I like that table. :D Sure is fun being spiteful :D My wife says I'm pretty good at that. But on the other hand, she tells me how she would use my antique Winchesters for tomato stakes. :( -----------Sixgun
