Old Marlin Receiver Sight???

Post by Mainehunter »

I need some help on this one. A friend at work gave me a Marlin 1893 to look at and see what it maybe worth. What caught my eye was the old receiver sight, I never seen anything like this one before:

I want to say it was done at the factory, drilled & tapped and the wording "Marlin Safety" is offset. Any ideas :?:

Thanks,

That's a Hepburn sight. I've been told Marlins of that vintage were D&T'd for that sight.

Post 1905 Marlin lever & pump guns were d&t'd for them. The sight alone will bring $250-$350 on Ebay.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

Theyre right, thats a nice sight. They work too but you need to drift the front for windage.

Yes, they do work for some people, but not for me. They have a peep and a notch that are selectable, so one flips up and the other goes down. I find the notch is too close, and the peep is too far away. Just doesn't work for me, so I took mine off and put a tang sight on.

Yep, a Hepburn. Rare bird, and worth almost as much as the rifle.
