No more bruised knuckles
Since I already admit to more than 65 years, I also admit that I bruise more easily than I did when I was younger, and that it seems to hurt more. Thinner skin, blah, blah, blah (old guy grumbling). Using my '92 was painful just working the lever, bruising the back off my lever hand painfully.
I fixed it this weekend and have to admit that it was something I should have done a long time ago.
I bought a leather wrapping 'kit' from a fella at the SASS site several months ago and finally sewed it on while we watched the Redskins win yesterday. Then I cycled it a bunch, and low and behold, it didn't hurt at all. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
Highly recommended!

Hey, Bruce, have any pics of your wrap?
Also, are you near Martinsburg?

Re: No more bruised knuckles
Bruce,
At 59 I'm noticing a tendency for more bruises too. But I still don't have trouble with my levers bruising me. Perhaps it's the way I position my hand as I work the lever. Or could it be the size of my hand and that it's not floppy loose in the lever? I don't know.
Just some thoughts.
Joe

Yes, 10 miles from Martinsburg, across the river from Antietam Battlefield National Monument.

Nice looking wrap, Bruce.
I lived 15 miles north of Antietam near Hagerstown for nearly 20 years; moved out here in late 2007.

Does the person you bought it from have a web site.
Re: No more bruised knuckles
Is there ever a problem of rust under lever wraps? How does the leather hold up to gun oil and solvents? I like to shoot in all weathercause that's the only kind of weather I get in this life and i like to use it all

Re: No more bruised knuckles
I wrapped my CAS levers back when I was active in it. Now, I live in Texas and sweat a lot =- and they all rusted the metal badly under the wraps... I did the single strand of leather wound around though - different... but still, beware moisture getting under/through the leather.
