Picked up the Blackhawk in .357 and shot a lot of .38spl. and a few .357 rounds today. Glad I got the .357 to go with my Henry Big Boy. Those .357 rounds are STOUT.
Does anyone know anything about a 60th anniversary model Ruger Single Six SS convertable with a 6.5 inch barrel by chance? Looks like I have an oppurtnity to pick one up for about $450.00 new in box.

Yep, but it's a GOOD kind of stout; just enough to make you know you're shooting a serious gun and not a toy. They make for something relaxing to shoot after a few .44 Mag or .45 Colt '+P' sessions...!Beaker wrote:Picked up the Blackhawk in .357 and shot a lot of .38spl. and a few .357 rounds today. Probably a darned good deal; I really like the 6.5" barrel length. Great guns; too bad Ruger never slimmed-up their 96/22s or 96/22M's to make a better mate for them (even though they didn't, they are still my favorite .22 leverguns).Beaker wrote:Does anyone know anything about a 60th anniversary model Ruger Single Six SS convertable with a 6.5 inch barrel by chance? You can load that .357 Blackhawk stout as can be, and it'll still be more comfortable to shoot for longer periods than a full bore .44 or heavy loaded .45. I usually run 180gr bullets out of mine, and pretty hot at that.

Try a Blackhawk with BISLEY grips. You'll love it...

I have a 7 1/2 inch Blackhawk .357 that I resally like. It's a blue one, and is exactly as mentioned---a serious shooter but not a punisher. My other several Rugers are 45's and 44's, the 44's do punish a bit, but still enjoyale arms to own.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

I have a 357, 30 Carbine and two Supers; a blue scoped 7 1/2 " and a stainless 4 5/8" I do shoot some pretty stout loads thru the 7 1/2" but the 4 5/8" I mostly shoot 44 specials and 44 Colts thru it. It has drawn blood shooting 300gr XTPs. But if you can hold onto it, it is a shooter.
