Cartridge pics - On Topic since they are all LEVERGUN ones!

Post by AJMD429 »

Just messing around I took some cartridge pictures:

They make a nice source of fodder for our Ruger, Marlin, & Rossi leverguns, and the (finally) Winchester levergun soon to join the collection... 8)

Thanks, I was right about most of them. Looks like you got a lot of fun stuff to play with!

Yeah, I thought that 44 mag was a 44-40 and the 375 a 38-55. Shoulda' known the doc had the more modern versions. But are you sure about that 44, doc?

Yep; it just has a deep cannelure in the case (factory load - PMC brand I think).

Think the .218 bee was first chambered for rifles--I'm not aware that it has been a standard chambering for any revolvers/semiautos. But then there are lots of things of which I'm unaware !

I picked up a nice Winchester Model 65 in bee a few years ago. Only something like 5700 were so chambered IIRC.

I'm more than aware of the calibers, just haven't ever seen one or shot one before.

Some of the odd-ball cartridges are for guns (or Contender/Encore barrels) I seldom shoot, and I'm still working my way through my 100 factory rounds I bought intending to reload. Others that I shoot more often (like .44 Mag) I do sometimes reload cast bullets in (or buy commercially loaded cast-bullets), but mostly I just check in at MidwayUSA.com every few weeks for 'bulk' rifle and pistol bullets on sale (they come loose in a big plastic bag lining a 'flat rate' mailing box), or for 'blemish' bullets (and I rarely can even see a so-called 'blemish', and if it is some 'bubbles' issue that makes them inaccurate, I'm a lousy enough shot it doesn't seem to matter  ). I'm in the middle of the usual thousand 'honey-do' projects, but halfway down the list is to restore my reloading area to useable status - it got kind of 'bumped' with other household repairs coming first. I've a pile of cast bullets I hope to put in cartridge cases where they belong...

Since we've moved the POLITICS to its own forum and CLASSIFIEDS to their own forum there is NO OFF TOPIC. You can drop it. Adding ON TOPIC likewise muddles things. An ACCURATE DESCRIPTION in the subject line would be best. If it has to move as it drifts, I'll move it.
Sincerely,

Hobie
