looking for supplier

Post by Bis »

I am trying to locate a Lyman 17AHB globe sight. Midway carries them and I have always used Midway but as of late they have angered me and I am looking for someone else to give my money to. I checked out Brownells and Graf & Sons but no luck. I am sure there are lots of other places out there, I just don't know where they are. So any help would be nice. Thanks.

Go right to Lyman. I recently ordered 2 sights from them.

Brownells p/n 539-017-360 (1st on list) for $40.99 show to be in stock. It's the one I used on my Rossi. Consider Lee Shaver inserts for it as they are much better.

Thank you all for the replys, sorry I didn't respond sooner, been sick as a dog. I am looking for the sight to put on my Marlin 1894 (357). With these old eyes I need all the help I can get and I think a scope would look terrible on it.

Wow what a difference. Are those inserts a standard size? I have a H&R 38/55 with a globe sight that could use a little help like that.

They are made for the Lyman 17a but you could call and see if they have them for your globe sight. Brownells spec listing for it says,

"1095 high-carbon, spring steel, blued. .01" (.25mm) thick. Post & Aperture Card includes 3 apertures, 4 crosshairs, 3 posts. Lyman 17A also fits Browning BPCR. .470" (12mm) dia., Redfield/Alley - .550" (14mm) dia. Fits Redfield 65/66 and Alley globe sights. Large Lyman/Anschutz - .675" (17.1mm) dia., Parker-Hale - .587" (14.9mm) dia., Redfield Olympic - .700" (17.8mm) dia., Redfield International/Mid Tompkins - .769" (19.5mm) dia. All Aperture Card features 10 apertures, from .072" (1.8mm) dia. to .145" (3.7mm) dia. Models for Redfield International/Mid Tompkins and Redfield Olympic or Lee Shaver small sights/Lyman 17A."

I guess when I order my Lyman sight, I will order the other inserts and try them in my H&R. Then I know I have at least one front sight I can use them in and go from there.

Thanks for the info

If you think 17A sights are pricey, you haven't checked other globe sights with interchangeable aperatures. The 17A's are a bargain.
