If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Texas ;
If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas ;
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas ;
If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas ;
If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas ;
If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas ;
If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas ;
If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas ;
If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas ;
If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas ;
If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas friends, you definitely live in Texas .

Texas is the only place a woman can bath in Sweetwater, dry off in Seymour and dress in Plainview. At least that is what my Grandfather always said.
My favorite town name in "Trickham"... Pronounced "Trick - em". It statred as a stop on the Great Western Cattle trail. There was good water and grass on Mukewater Creek so the cattle were rested there. The town consisted of a couple of stores and a couple of saloons with "soiled doves". The town was called Trickem and Cheatem, becaused they tricked the cowboys in the saloons and cheated the cowboys in the stores.
When the cattle drivers were over and it became a real town, they applied for a Post Office and submitted the name "Trickem". But Postmaster General didn't like that name so they changed the spelling to Trickham but retained the original pronounciation.
Tricham is now a ghost town in Coleman County. My GGGrandfather was the first Postmaster, and Baptist Preacher. He freighted in chambray cloth from Ft. Worth and his daughters sewed shirts all year long to sell to the drovers as they need a new shirt by the time they got there. His sons, inclulding my GGranfather drove cattle up the Great Western TRail until those days passed.

Trickham sounds interesting. My grandfather was born in Glen Cove just west of Coleman in 1904. At the time Trickham was still a town.
Here's an interesting site with pictures of Trickham.

dssmith... Interesting site about Trickham. The Community Center in the photos is the old school house built in 1914. My Grandmother taught there when the school opened and my Grandfather was on the School Board.
The Church in the photos is a "Union" church of Methodist, Baptist, Presbaterians, and Disciples of Christ. I attended church there every Sunday of every summer from 1946 to 1956. I have preached in the Church and several of my families funeral services were held their.
Most of my family is buried in the Trickham Cemetary and so will I be, when my times comes.
