OT - Esmeralda grips - update
After CowboyTutt's post on Jeff Quinn's article about meeting gripmaker "Esmeralda" at the Shot Show this year, I had to check out her site again. Had been there before, and love her work - though I have never seen it in person (to my knowledge).
Well, that's going to change in about a week. Saw these on her site, and just couldn't pass them up - not with my Irish heritage. The picture is from her site:
They are for a Browning High-Power. Made of "Cocobolo Dorado" wood with a "Celtic" design. Man, these look awesome!
I'll posted pictures once I get them placed on the gun!

Andrew, I've been telling her the same thing for a while now. She doesn't charge enough for her work. She is far to nice a lady! You know the surprising thing to me was that the stuff she has really isn't expensive. That means alot coming from me.
Ysabel, please post pics when you get them on the pistol!

O.S. its REALLY hard to type when your laughing your butt off!I have seen those grips on Tutt's gun and they are more beautiful in person but then as a shower assistant at the Y he must keep up appearances.
OK, I'll bring the Kimber 1911 in 10mm just for the grips. Hope I can shoot the durn thing!

I like what I see on her site. Including the grips. I've been thinking of having a nice set made for a left handed Randall. Something with a lynx on it. From what I've seen looks like she could do a bang up job.

I like the Celtic knots. I sent her a request for one on a J-frame.
Kind regards,

The grips arrived yesterday and I installed them today. They are beautiful! They are the exact ones from the website - even down to the little traces of red in the cocobolo dorado wood.
I decided to mount these on my FM "Detective", which is a "Commander" size Hi-Power clone (4-inch barrel versus the normal 5-inch). It has a matte finish and was wearing a set of Pachmyer wrap-around finger-groove grips. I do like finger-groove grips on my carry guns, but these new grips just look too cool. I will have to take this out soon to see how it performs! I feel a gun-post coming on!
Anyway, here is the "before" picture:
And here is the after:
Neither the pictures nor my photography skills do these grips justice!

She makes some really pretty Ruger grips too!
Update:
I took out this pistol Friday afternoon at lunch and burnt a box of 50 rounds. The grips were super-comfortable, and I couldn't be happier. Scored a respectable 240 out of 250 on my self-defense routine. Not bad for a gun I haven't shot in a year!

Very nice. I'm surprised to see that Esmeralda is now making grips for so many different handguns. I had always associated her work with 1911s, in the same way I associate Cary of CLC Custom Grips with Ruger handguns. I'm not much for collecting art, but the grips these people are turning out sure qualify as art in my book. I recently bought these grips from Klamoth River Woodworks for this Sistema 1911A1 that I rebuilt.
