select a sight

Post by 93marshooter »

For this rifle I want either a tang sight, or one of those ladder rear sights. Or maybe no change. The rifle is a Marlin 93 30-30.

I'd try to find a Hepburn sight, for the top of the receiver (like leverdude's, below).

But failing that, I vote ladder.

The receiver is not drilled I am reluctant to have new holes put in the receiver. I want to leave it as it came from factory, but I could.

I had a Lyman tang sight on my 93 and it wasn't a problem in shooting. I would suggest that as the easiest option for improved sights.

I like the looks of this one by Jeff's outfitters. I am not sure that it will fit the 93. Bob's advertises the Ladder sights for $100. I really don't need such a sight on a 30-30 but would be fun to hit a long range target.

It deserves a good tang sight to get the most out of it - that's why they put those holes in the tang
I have the one shown in 93marshooter's reply on my '93 take down. It really helps these old eyes get the most accuracy out of a great gun.

Go for a tang sight, to me it is almost like scoping it :D
