Hey Terry thought you`d enjoy seeing this steam engine i built :P and some of the new guys around here that hadn`t seen it. :)
Just got it out and running today, running it on air.
It`s a replica of a very early style engine.

Thanks guys, the original engine had about a five foot cast iron flywheel and ran at 25-30 RPM.
The belt ran on the flywheel to a small pulley to get some RPM`s on the machinery end.
I seen a replica of the engine at a farm show once many years ago and never forgot it and finally built one.

Hey pitchy! Have you ever made it to the antique power show in Hastings, MN? If you haven't, it really needs to go on your bucket list. All sorts of old single-poppers running all sorts of stuff, up to and including a fully operational old-time saw mill! Very cool!

Haven`t been to that one, we live up north so we attend Rolog, Lake Itasca pioneer days and have been to Albany show a couple times. Don`t get out much anymore though.

Pitchy, you never cease to amaze me. Your skill and ability to build things with your hands is incredible. Thanks for posting these stories and inventions as you do. I truly do enjoy them.

Pitchy, you would be great to have around in case of a disaster of the proportion that the tinfoil hat types are predicting of this December. My Grandfather built his first gasoline powered tractor to accomodate the one lunger motor he purchased. It had a large barrel, I think it was a 55 gallon drum, for the radiator, and he had the hot water coming out of the top of the engine and the cooler water coming in at the bottom. It worked for about 10 years. He was a blacksmith by training, and made a bunch of his farm equipment by hand back in the first 3 decades of the 1900s.

I just added an entry to my bucket list. I need to visit Pitchy's early Americana living history display.

Pitchy, I think you aught to built a steam boiler to power that engine.

Thanks Joe, your a good one but don`t let it go to your head
I have a small boiler that i was using to steam boards that would carry enough steam to run that engine for show.
Would have to put solid piping on the engine first, kinda a hassle when i can run it on air.

You know it's too bad you can't harness all the hot air the politicians are expelling to run that on. You'd have an endless supply.
