Freedom of the Seas is relatively new having been built in 2006.I've been on one cruise on it.Very very nice.

It used to be that you could book a "cruise" on a container ship. Dunno if you can any more.

We took the Alaska cruise on our 30th anniversary and enjoyed it a great deal.

Best part was on a side trip on a little boat to look at seals and whales. We saw seals and humpbacks, and then a pod of orcas came straight at us from across the bay. They were half in and half out of the water (think breast stroke) until they were about 40 yards out, then dove and went under the boat, surfacing on the other side and continuing on the surface. Even the locals running the tour were going ape.

If you like people, you'll have more fun. If you don't, just go with the flow. It's a family reunion, you're stuck with people wherever you have it.

It's the Freedom of the Seas...check out the video..
and they want Balcony rooms....
7 day trip starts from Port Canaveral....next door to Nasa...
First stop is Cococay...an island owned by Royal Carribean,
Then to St Thomas,...then to St Maarten...then home...
This is going to cost me a lever or two or three

Mom cant stop talking about it...She is very excited and happy to
have this family reunion on a cruise ship...
All they have to do is pick a date!

I think I better go loose some weight...its a dang floating buffet.. :D

You will have fun anyway. But, try to book it for the winter. It's just too hot down here in the summer.

Took a real slow cruise to Korea in 1965, on one of Uncle Sam's troop ships. Food was really bad, the accomidations were even worse. Primitive would be an understatement. I think the only difference between our accomidations and the 18th century slave ships was they did not chain us up. The Navy probably would have done it, if they thought they could have gotten by with it. I went to Hawaii, with family, on the Lurline, a passenger vessel. Almost as boring as the troopship, just a lot quicker. The wife loved it, I did not. Have avoided cruise ships ever since. Wife is bugging me to go on a cruise, I have resisted.

The wife and I have been on about 5 cruises, and only had issues on one. Everybody but me got sick, I lucked out.

Best cruise we've ever been on was the Alaska cruise. Flew to Anchorage, rode a bus to Whittier, AK., then got on the ship and sailed to Vancouver. Most beautiful scenery in the world. We got a balcony room, and am glad we did. Spent time on the balcony eatn and drinkin and just watchin for whales and eagles, saw both.

The shore excursions are about as much as the cruise, but worth it, up there. If you book them onboard, through the cruise line, they will wait for you if it's late coming back, if not, you fly to next stop to get back on. When booked onboard it costs a lot more, but ya pays your money or ya takes your chances.

Two months in the Atlantic aboard USS Guam (LPH-9) the summer of '74 as a replacement 2111 for an E-4 armorer that was injured on leave or something. I recall the Guam had Marine VTOL Harriers embarked for some kind of strategy concept exercise. I spent almost ZERO time on deck during operations, but did get to see a couple Harriers take off and land. Pretty cool.
