Prayer request, No.2
Fellow Levergunners,
I have a new prayer request. It is for my uncle, James Schaff. He is 84 years old, and appears to have a very short time lift in this world. He has had some health issues, like diabetes, for over 20 years, but he kept many of us in the dark about his true condition. Right now, uncle Jimmy is in a hospital, in Laplace, Louisiana, with ( I am told) metastatic esophageal cancer. He also is battling pneumonia.
My uncle grew up in New Orleans. His father owned Schaff Ornamental Ironworks, and produced park benches, iron gates, and even some ironwork for the U.S. Customs House, in New Orleans. Uncle Jimmy served in the United States Air Force, during the interval between WWII & the Korean War. I believe that he was with "the fire brigade" (from my fuzzy memory), and had duty in the Pacific. I recall that he spent time on Iwo Jima, Saipan, and Guam. Uncle Jimmy was a Patriot, through & through, serving as Commander of American Legion Post 383, for a number of years. He would often share his photographs & memories with me, when I stayed at his house. Uncle Jimmy was also a great admirer of General George S. Patton.
His wife, my aunt Mary, does not drive, and is also in her eighties. They have no children. None of our family lives close to them. We are fearful of what will become of aunt Mary, once uncle Jimmy passes away.
Please, keep Jimmy Schaff, and my aunt Mary, in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Shawn

Re: Prayer request, No.2
Thanks, again, for all of your prayers. My family covets them. Sadly, my uncle Jimmy died in the night. He will be laid to rest on Saturday. Please continue to pray for my aunt, Mary.

Prayers said Shawn. We've got family in similar circumstances.
