Looking Good Isn't All About Guns...
I was driving through the neighborhood last summer and saw this gas station a guy had built in his driveway. I stopped and talked to him about the look and how impressive this whole vintage station/garage was that he erected in his driveway.
He told me to come back anytime and take pictures, today was that day. Overcast but not too dark.
I have to say I love this car and have kept it for over 41 years as an every day driver for the years I was in school and the first years of our marriage. It is now only taken out on nice days, it still turns heads and I love to drive it.
It is nice to have a car that came in a day when engineers actually paid attention to the lines and look of a car. I hate what the automotive industry has become today. You can't tell one brand of car from another, it is truly another era comparing nice lines from the past to something shaped like a turd designed in a wind tunnel...

Wow! Beautiful GTO!! Built the same year I was. Have always had one on the list for when I win the lottery. My parents had a 68 convertible. There is a pic of me somewhere, almost three years old, sitting up on the package shelf with the top down. Thanks for posting.

well you need a gas station in your driveway with the mileage that thing gets.

Very nice Pontiac there! I can still remember the Texaco jingle I think;
You Can Trust Your Car, To The Man Who Wears The Star...The Big Red Texaco Star!!!
A full service station was a genuine part of the good old days.

Wow! Great pictures and a great car, Shrapnel. That vintage gas station is super cool. How about posting a picture of the engine in your GTO?
Collector cars are a passion of mine. I've had my 1955 Chevrolet Nomad since 1969, the wife drives a '56 Bel Air hardtop, and my daughter has a '67 Camaro. A collector car is just plain fun to own and drive.

Neat GOAT dude. Thats what we called them back east. Not many have survived. Buddy of mine had a '69 with the 400 in it and I remember plenty of times of him smokin' the tires, cruising up to Front Street in Philly for the drag races and slamming down beers and smokin' joints along the way.

Shrapnel, wow! Thank you for the step back in time. Very nice...and a tri power to boot!
I still wish I had my old '65 Ford Galaxie 500. I had ordered the car with the 427ci/425hp engine
but was told that they only made some many of those engines per year and no more were
available for that year (Probably was a good thing....I might be pushing up daises by now.)
So...I had to reluctantly go with a 330 hp 390 police interceptor engine....

Re: Looking Good Isn't All About Guns...
The '65 GTO has been my favorite muscle car since the day they first appeared, everything looked right about it. The 389 with triple- 2 barrel carbs (Tri-Power engine) was a work of art.
The '65 Mustang was my favorite pony car. Did get to own a '65 Mustang Fastback 289 with T-10 4 speed trans. Wish I kept her.

Great lookin' car and looks right at home in that "fillin' station". Time warp, indeed! My uncle had a Booneville with the 421... my cousin took it and me out cruisin' one day while her dad was workin'... Fun, fun, fun!

Your car is the bomb! One question, do the gas pumps work? That would be rad. God Bless.

I was just over at Mike's this afternoon, sighting in the Sako Finnwolf I posted on here and my 300 WBY which I need to check for hunting season this weekend. We always have a laugh at someone else's expense. I have bought a bunch of toy guns, so the next article may be testing Shootin' Shells, Spud Guns and Rubber Band guns...Sixgun wrote:Neat GOAT dude. I had a 67 Ram Air GTO back in the 70s. I still kick myself for letting it go.

If that GTO was mine, the last thing I'd care about would be mileage. Very very nice Goat.El Chivo wrote:well you need a gas station in your driveway with the mileage that thing gets.

Re: Looking Good Isn't All About Guns...
I owned a 64 goat with tri-power in about 1973. It had been rode hard and put away wet by the time I got it, but it was one classy car. It had leather seats, and would have restored really well. That car could pass anything on the highway cept a gas station! To conserve gas, I disconnected two of the carbs and it could still lay down rubber in second gear. When everything was hooked up, you could watch the gas gauge go down as you drove down the road.
I realized early on that my chances of surviving to 25 were greatly reduced if I kept that car. My brother wanted it so bad his teeth hurt, so I sold it to him for $250.
Those were GREAT times.
