What's a Fair Price for a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage?

Post by Remington40x »

Trying to determine what a fair price would be for a 1950s Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage. It is, I believe, a 99R - 24 inch barrel, full forend (not the schnable). Factory drilled and tapped. Still has both front and rear sights. About 90% or a bit better blue (thinning on the bottom of the receiver a bit) and only minor handling marks on the wood. Still has about 50% case colors on the lever.

Thanks.

I'm going to say around $600. The older, VG condition ones in like 30-30 and 303 Sav are going for $750ish, newer ones $450-500.

I agree with O.S.O.K. First thought before seeing other posts was $600.

99's are fairly common within our region. $525. to $600. is the range I've observed.

$400-$600 in my area. You may want to double check if it's a 99R model or 99T. The full forend stock throws me off. I may have to dig up the Savage book on this one.

We have a 99 TD (circa mid 20's) in 250-3000 at the shop for sale that has a period Lyman scope attached but it's done so in a way that no extra holes were drilled and or tapped . The bases attach at the tang sight holes and the rear sight dovetail .

This gun is very much in the 90% range and I have it on GB for $1000 . Now so far no ones bid on it so perhaps the price I priced it ats a wee bit high . But I honestly don't think it is by much if any . But on the other hand a 250-3000 TD should sell for a bit more then a 300 .
