casastable,
I like to use vintage ammunition or replications thereof using the original cases.
I wonder if those boxes sold for that price? I have seen similar ones go for about 20-25 / box.
The early Winchester 38 WCF and 44 WCF boxes do bring high $. Most boxes in good condition fetch $1,200+!

Agree, the rarer the caliber the higher the price.
I'm so glad I bought up a number of boxes of 25-35's
back when I did. Two of those boxes I know I could get
5 times what I paid for them. Those I will never shoot.

Cool stuff. Yesterday, I shot up a mess of 1966 military match ammo. Shoots better than my handloads. (gotta work on that) Busting clay birds at 500 meters with the M1-A.
I'm gonna start working on this stuff too. Bought most of this stuff back in the seventies and eighties when you could still find it on dealers shelves. Lots of blackpowder stuff from the 1880's on.----Sixgun

I just consigned what's left of my rimfire/centerfire collection and powder can collection, to an auction house. PM me and I will forward the link when it's up.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

I find it hard to label something "vintage" that originated during the rein of Corduroy.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.

One way of looking at it.
Like us of the same vintage,
that stuff was then, still is, the good stuff from back in the day.
Not to mention, very pricey and sought after.

The years fly by.........especially when your having fun!
My grandfather was born in 1894 and it seems like the other day when I was a pallbearer. (1991) Just think of the stuff he could have stashed away when the old ammo was new. But........people in those days fought to survive day by day.-----Sixgun
