Here's the '94 Legacy that took my deer.
I just got the gun a few weeks ago. I have at least a dozen lever guns, but this one seems to fit. A 30-30, that's good a longer barrel , checkering and a smi-pistol grip stock. If my eyes get worse I can scope it.
It's got to get deer and it did.

Very nice rifle Owen. Is the Legacy one of the US made ones or is it a new Japanese rifle. Either way, it is good looking.

I have the .357 also; got it in 2005. I decided to order the 30-30 one night in January 2006 - but wanted to sleep on it - that morning Winchester announced its discontinuation and all were sold out by the time I woke up.
I got a reasonable facsimile by buying a Ranger and adding a 24" barrel. Since then I've seen them on Gunbroker from time to time - I'm a little tempted. I believe they came with 26" octagonal barrels as well.

My Dad bought me the Legacy model with 20 inch barrel and I love it!

That's a one great looking rifle! Like the sling, I just always feel incomplete if my deer rifle lacks a sling.

I had one a few years ago and had to part with it. I saw this one without a blemish and in the box and all papers for $590. I think they sold for $460 new, but what's that got to do with it. Right?

I took my 800 or so bucks into WallyWorld, and ordered a 26" Oct Barrel 38-55...They were discontinued before I could get mine I saw a 30WCF at a LGS, and it was beautiful. I've since got a 94 BigBore in .375....that'll do, but, it's not as pretty as that 38-55

I looked at a 24" 357 Legacy and had about made up mind to buy it and then changed it to buy a Navy Arms 1892 24" 357.
