What is the value of a last year production win 30-30?
With original box, never been fired, and a hard plastic case that came with the purchase? He says it was from the last year Winchester made 30-30s in America or at all I think.

As I remember, there was a lot of speculation as to quality of the guns produced in the last few months.
I would have to see it before I would place a value on it.

thanks, I am considering it in partial trade for a car I have and I needed to know how about how much I was getting. if indeed it's worth around $500, I am getting about what I need to out of the car.

well there were several models from $400-$1200, I would guess you could get $100 more than the original price.

Nope, you're not getting a "X3" out of me. To me, they're worthless; zip, nada, nothing. Anything with that safety (although it's less offensive than the X-Bolt thing previously) or an "Angle Eject" I refuse to buy. I'd rather have the rattly post '64 and it's scintered steel receiver. A mdl 94 Winchester is at it's best with the top eject, iron sights, well-balanced self. None of this dual-personality nonsense.Streetstar wrote:X2Old Savage wrote:$500

The elephant in the room with all late model 94's is the questions of reliability and build quality of them. Both seemed to be getting rather spotty at best during the last few years of winchester production.

You may notice that Griff and I don't see eye to eye on this. He probably wants the firing pin on the hammer too on single actions.

Well, I've had a change of heart... they DO do look GREAT if viewed from the Left! As for SAs... well... DUH! IF, that is your SA has to have a fiiring pin! My favorites don't!Old Savage wrote:You may notice that Griff and I don't see eye to eye on this. He probably wants the firing pin on the hammer too on single actions.

I bought one of the Legacy 94's with factory tang sight, 26 inch round barrel and nice wood with pistol grip style stock. Its got the crescent buttplate, case finish and chambered in 38-55. I think it would probably sell for more than $500. I gave $700 for it when I bought it the day USRA closed. Its still NIB.

As a ball park value, sight unseen, if it is truly unfired, so forth and so on, I have to agree with Old Savage.
As for my personal experience and opinion of the post 82 Win 94 Angle Rejects I agree with Griff. ( I do own one, and only one, and that's cos it was the first lever gun chambered for the .45 Colt. And it's not stock anymore anyway.)
And yes I prefer the firing pins on the hammer of my Singer Actions. But if it's an Old Model Ruger I'll make an exception.

Of course, IF the OP's gun is one of the catalogued (2006), but never seen/sold, Takedown Models - then all bets are off, since a hen's tooth is very expensive indeed (when found).

Top one is late model production - can be seen on Gunblast under 25-35 Win.

I look forward to how it shoots, my last one was junk!
If a 94's lug does not rise just above the reciever and stop in the same place evey time then I am not interested! It don't matter which model, it is the first thing I will check!

that was my point, several models were available.buckeyeshooter wrote:I bought one of the Legacy 94's with factory tang sight, 26 inch round barrel and nice wood with pistol grip style stock. You might ask, what are the Rangers going for? They were about $400 then.

IMO, as long as it is "flush" with the top of the receiver, headspace SHOULD be correct. If it comes a little low, a little buildup on the "ears" on the bottom of the lug or tightening of the slot in the link should bring it up to where it needs to be. That's not the way to correct a headspace issue, but will keep the action from "over-springing" and being hard to lever.

Yes Griff, I agree and I really wish now I had spent more time in that area now. I am convinced that is where the problem was!Griff wrote:Nath,Nath wrote:If a 94's lug does not rise just above the reciever and stop in the same place evey time then I am not interested!
