Scratch build 28Ga. Flintlock

Just finished up a 28ga. flintlock . Built from walnut plank , commercial lock and barrel . Hardware is homespun .

Hayseed, you are a talented man, I wish I could make my own firearms and a 28 gauge flintlock would definitely be on my list.. :mrgreen:

28 ga is about 56 caliber.

Thank you fellas ! It is light and skinny , wieghing in just under 6 lbs.

Now that its done I can start in on the basket case Win 94 Ive been scrounging parts for .

Oh ya Pitchy , and you know Ill be startin in on that Triumph scooter :lol: :lol:

I hope I do as well with the 94 thudy thudy project .
At some point in its life it took a hard fall and upper tang was broken then brazed back together. Its all bits and pieces now , but hopefully will become a shooter .

I dont know a thing about a flintlock..Sure looks like something fun to play with..Is not inletting the lower tang into the wood a common feature in older gun styles? Think I've seen that before and wondered about it..

On quite a lot there are variations of whether certain parts are or arent inlet. Dependant on 'school' how it was done . On this one I chose to inlet front guard extention and set rear on top of wood .
This gun is more or less an 'American Fowler' in style.

Real nice. I see it wears a hind sight. That should make it easier to lob roundballs into a target :) .
