Global warming? What the heck...

Post by olyinaz »

This winter has been crazy. Tucson Arizona and I had snow drifts by my garage door today! :?

My cousin in Phoenix had a pic on FB of a mini snowman she built. Weird.

..how often? The upper desert (2000/2500'+) locations maybe a dusting every few years, a good coating every 5-10. Lower locations (Phoenix etc) a dusting every 5, a coating hardly ever. The mountains around Phoenix/Scottsdale (and I imagine Tucson) should be incredible tomorrow morning. Gonna be a cold night and pretty cool day tomorrow (50s) so it'll stick around a few days for the photographers!.

I think that they have moved the goal posts.

Apparently it's now called "Climate Change".

COSteve wrote:On a serious note, Global Warming is the cause of more snow in places because of the more energy put into the climate. This causes more violent and higher storms both in the winter and summer. More tornadoes, heavier snow in some areas (East Coast), less snow in some areas (West), and snow where previously not common (Arizona and Florida). The question isn't if the planet is warming, it is. The question is how much of the current warming is man caused versus just part of the normal temperature cycling the climate records show has been going on for over 6 million years. It's clear that the warming trend started in the early 1800s is continuing but it's not clear how much of it is caused by human activity.
Thanks Steve. Very well put. I was having a mental dilemma about whether to say something like this, but didn't.

Watching this on the Golf Channel - not too worry - John Kerry has the State Dept concentrating on it. Hillary concentrated on world travel with her girl friend.

Sure is making up for last year isn't it?

I didn't get a single frozen pipe burst last year. Two weeks ago I got six in one day!

When I wake up to this in Tucson, there's just something not right about it! :)

But yes, I think by now we all know that whatever is causing the record heat and floods is also causing the wacky winter weather. Welcome to Planet Earth!

Beautiful pictures Olyinaz. You should take some tomorrow when the sun comes out, it'll look even more spectacular.
And don't worry about the climate changes, Kerry and Barry will take care of it for everyone after they get the carbon tax rammed up yer'... I mean carbon tax in place. With the money they take from 'yer wallet, they can put it toward paying off the national debt...BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Good hunting weather, I would have spent the day up in the hill's packing a rifle of some description, or maybe down at Pena Blanca or Parker canyon trolling for trout, most likely both, there's some nice Bobcats in those area's.

The thing that burns me about the political side of it is that it simply doesn't matter what caused it. If it is man made, the whole world could stop burning carbon fuels tomorrow and it would still take decades for a correction. It is simply not practical to worry about all this BS, there is no point to a carbon tax. What they should be worrying about is what do you do with Manhattan during storms like Sandy. Politicians are simply not practical people.

Nice pics Oly  Looks like the Catalinas in the background, which side of them are you on?

I remember one coating like that when I was at the U of A, maybe 1990 or so. Also a dusting on Easter Sunday around 1997.
