Post by shawn_c992001 »

Just wondering if anyone has a Bison Bull. I just saw one in the new "Guns of the Old West" magazine.

I kind of have to wonder about a manufacturer that can't spell caliber... :?

I'd still like to squeeze off a cylinder full though. Looks like a fist full, but I'd say with the weight it's pretty tame. I shot my buddies Encore with a 15in pistol barrel it was pretty intense. I'd say that revolver isn't that bad.

I don't have one or know of who does, but, ask BlaineG, he has a BFR in 45-70. He loves it, or did the last I knew.

i had the steel frame version years ago, and it weighed as much as a rifle, so with factory loads it was actually much more tame than a 454. i think it weighed nearly 7 pounds.

This handgun looks like the .45-70 revolver that has been in production several times over they years. The advertisement even sounded familiar. It has been made here in Indiana, in the Evansville area. I believe it was produced here (in Indiana) by more than one manufacturer.

A man who was selling one at a gun show told me that because of muzzle blast it was difficult to reach .454 ballistics, much less pass them. He did say that the use of heavier bullets was much easier, though.

My .45-70 handgun experience is limited to a Contender. It was enough!
