Turnbull 1886 50-110

Post by buckeyeshooter »

Finally made it back to the USA and out to my dealers to pick up my new rifle. He was nice enough to hold on to it for me while I was overseas.
Here are the specs-- Winchester 1886 by Turnbull Restoration, 32 inch octogon barrel, shotgun butt and case finish. Chambered 50-110 Winchester (50 express). Have not shot it yet, but ordered the makings a couple years ago when I ordered the gun. I do have 40 rounds of smokeless loaded now :lol:
I plan to use it a bit in CAS long range rifle side matches. That is why I wanted the 32 inch barrel. Magazine holds 10.
Here are some photos;

Very nice !

I've wanted a 50-110 on and off for a number of years !
But I wanted it on an old original Marlin square bolt Model 1895 . Passed on one a few years back that had been made on an 1895 of 1897 vintage and had been rebored in the 20's or 30's I think .

When I was in the midst of getting the rebore or not I talked with Steve Brooks about making me a copy of the old Winchester 50-110 300 grain HP mold as well . He told me he could do it and I think then the cost was about $150 of course this was maybe 5-7 years ago .
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

I had Turnbull and his crew build a 50-110 for me on a Browning 1886 but opted for a 1/2 round 1/2 octagon barrel and short mag tube to keep the weight down. They sure do nice work.

That is quite a rifle!! Might take some getting used to shooting that 32" barrel offhand. I do believe that I could learn though.

Howdy,

I have a Turnbull 50-110 built on a Browning M71, With a 32" barrel. Get ready for some stout recoil ! Better put a cuff on it is my suggestion,

Thanks guys! Bronco, I have a 26 inch barreled Marlin Cowboy in 50 Alaskan from Turnbull. I got an idea of what its going to be like. I'll probably shoot the 86 with cast 300's and Goex 2F. :shock:

That is a piece of FINE ART, as well as a real man's gun. Congratulations.

We will eagerly await a full Range Report...!
