Prayers go out to those near the explosion in West,Tx

Post by rjohns94 »

Praying for those affected by the explosion, either directly or indirectly. Many have perished, many injured, homes damaged, jobs lost. They community needs our prayers.

Quite a mess.

Prayers up. Makes you think twice about living near any kind of big factory or plant.

I worked a suicide by freight train there about 10 years back.

Friend local to the area reports buildings being blown off their foundations. 130+ wounded.

It's terrible, for sure - reports say a fire team was onsite prior to the explosion, so there was most likely a fire there first.

Lots of decent working folks effected, my heart & prayers go out to all of them.

Is this looking accidental, or, another attack on American soil?

they don't think it was set intentionally, investigating it as a crime scene so they dont miss anything. Mag 2.1 on the Richter scale, with the shock felt 40 miles away is what news is reporting. 170 wounded. Started as a fire. 4 responders missing at this time. Sure numbers will change for lost or wounded.

Sad news indeed. Isn't West the town where that little Czech pastry shop does a land office business just off of I-35?

12 dead so far, up to 60 unaccounted for.........

I havent seen any calls for donations nationally yet, I hope someone sets up an aid networks soon. I think the overwhelming news this week has everyone gasping for breath.

I think I'll give the Red Cross a call and see if they are planning a shipment of aid.

Can you ask what organizations local to that area I can send a donation too? I made a small one to the Red Cross general Disaster Fund, which my local chapter said is currently being tapped for relief there, and that they have not heard of any specific funds yet.

I am sure the local communities there have churches and organization that will be starting relief funds and I'd like to know what they are and pass that to my local news organizations up here.

All the hospitals in the area are full up on blood donations, etc and were within 24 hours.

Call the Red Cross, if anyone, they'll know who needs what, but all four or five hospitals in the region have so many donations they ran out of room last I heard from someone still in the area who is on scene (cop).

I am worried about the people whose houses were destroyed. Here in Vermont, when Irene wiped out the whole southern half of the state, nobody much seemed to care, unlike when we sent truckloads down to Katrina when that happened. We couldn't even get certain people in Congress to approve FEMA aid. When it was approved, it takes so long to get, that when Sandy wiped out New York, we STILL had displaced families a year later!

There are two hundred families down there that will not have a home to go to, and it will take a year to get any sort of aid.

Both banks in West are accepting donations for the people. As far as material goods, clothes, food, etc, they have so much coming in from across Texas they are asking to stop for now because of lack of places to store it all. The outpouring has been great. I dropped a pickup load of goods at a local VFD here and they had a room full already waiting to be loaded up and be delivered. That is being repeated all over. I'll try and find the name of the banks in West that are taking donations and post it here for anyone who wishes to donate to the families.

Here's some info for anyone who may wish to help.

PLEASE SHARE ~ This request comes from the Mayor of West. All the goods donated are wonderful but we have received so much, it has become a problem. At this time there are no real material needs for supplies. What will make the BIGGEST affect, is donate money to the relief at Point West Bank & Trust (254) 826-5333 or State National Bank (254) 826-3741.
