I was disappointed . I was hoping for a 20 cal rimfire . With a heavier bullet it would better for yotes. The weight of the 17 cal bullet doesn't guarantee to get the job done past 100 yards. I like the 17HMR on crows and pigeons.

No I haven't, just read up on this new fangled round in a
couple of the gun rags. They said availability this month.
Time will tell.

Or used the same neck size as the .17 Rem. to
utilize the 30 grain bullet.

Rimfires don't particularly intrest me . Mainly because all you can do is buy ammo and shoot them .

I like casting my own bullets and making my own loaded rounds . Even if I don't cast for them I prefer reloading for most of my jacketed round rifles as well .

We do however have loaded rounds , dies , brass and bullets for the 17 Hornet and two CZ527 HB rifles for the cartridge on order !

Ones for a friend and the others for my gunsmith buddy !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

I'd like to have a 17 Hornet though...

I'd rather have 22LR Velocitors. Twice as heavy and almost as fast. And alot cheaper.

You need to tell us where you get these 3000 fps 22LR shells.

No fury critters , just with feathers. But they don't flap a wing when hit, they just tip over. $250 for the Savage with accu trigger, money well spent.

Tried and failed. I can't see ammo companies rushing down that road again. I think the .20 fad is over as far as the general shooting public goes.

I'm holding a box of Velociters in my hand. It says 1435 fps. Thats a bit shy of 3000.

That said, for a 40gr 22lr thats pretty good. Haven't had a calm day to put them out to the 100 yrd target yet.

I didn't know if you saw that we were talking about the 17 super magnum which is like a 17 hornet only rimfire, not the 17 HMR

I shoot a lot of 17, but it's airguns, not rimfire. Works great on rabbits, pigeons, english sparrows, squirrels, european starlings, gophers and groundhogs out to about 50 yards or so.

That's mostly a stunt, and if I remember right range was inches. But at even a lowly 700 to 900fps, 50-60 yards is very doable on rabbits and even smaller game. There are people trying to do 1" at 100, it's rare but it has been done. Accuracy on these guns is amazing. Every shot in a dime at 20 is expected accuracy even from inexpensive guns, a good gun can put 5 shots into a quarter at 50 and many can do measurably better. They are impressive, cheaper to shoot than a .22, and at the same basic ranges equally effective on small game or target. The .22 has advantages, but for my needs, the pellet gun has taken over it's role. Cleaning a few animals hit with a pellet will really make you take a long hard look at how much power a lowly .22lr really has. We really do not give it enough credit.

One of our English friends, Nath I believe, has killed a fox with .177 air.
An amazing feat, not something we colonials would consider.

Has anyone come across a web link to a dimensioned illustration of the cartridge? How does the case differ from 22 Rim Mag?
