Looks like the same kind of "piece of paradise" that many of us have managed to find; always nice to see we're not alone in our quest for the ultimate homestead and partner/wife. Looks like GoatGuy found it. 8)

Nice relaxing looking homestead. :D That is the best way to live......With your spouse, lots of animals, and no one near you, (and I'll add this one) and a gate at the driveway. There's no need for medication of any kind.--------6

madman4570 - The dog you asked about, standing next to Mrs. Pitchy, is Rebels' Rest Farm's Robert E. Lee, aka Bobby Lee, a 138 lb, AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian dog. He's a really great dog, and the breed, in my opinion, is the best of the LGD's. They don't wander off like Great Pyrenees, no shaggy coat like several other LGD's and not a killer by nature. They bark and warn intruders in their territory to leave. If ignored, they will approach closer to the intruder, barking louder, and if ignored after that they tend to make the intruder really, really sorry they didn't heed the warning.

He is one of 14 pups his mother gave birth to here on our place on New Year's Day 2010. Priced the pups for $350, but turned down a $1000.00 offer for him by a breeder who came by to look over the litter. I had my eye on him from when he was a wee thing and had decided he would stay here. And here he still is, and will be with me until one or the other of us has taken the so called "dirt nap"! Glad you noted him. Thanks.

If he "takes the journey" before you; let me know.
There are some things to do, to make "the journey" easier.
I would like to do that for him.
Friends like that are far and few between.

Very nice gesture Mescalero, and one I certainly won't forget. Very thoughtful of you, and it's genuinely appreciated.

AFAIK the Basuto is a tribe from the Lesotho area of South Africa, and are also known as the Southern Sotho.
