I ain't much on large amounts of that white stuff anymore ! Three or four inches enough to make the ground white during hunting season is THE ONLY use I have for snow .

Beautiful scenery I saw a pair of old snow shoes for sale at the market today but they were well past their sell by date plus we don't get enough snow to use 'em...

NICE!...I just got a 1876 Uberti in 45-60 and love shooting it. Super accurate rifle with Lyman 292 cast over 5744 or IMR 4198.

Lookin' good Pitchy!
I went for a little walk just before dark and my woods look about like yours, snow and all. Took my '86 along but only saw tracks, no deer. Temp for me was about 17 or so. Guess it'll get very cold tonight. Was 2 this morn.

Great pictures. You look authentic. You need to send that pic of you to a movie agent. You would be a natural for old west period movies. Is that a wool capote you're wearing?

Pitchy,
-25??? The coldest I have ever been in was -15 and that was elk hunting in Co. Is it hard keeping the house warm?
I got to ask.....in the one picture with the footprints in the snow, I see this drag mark in between the foot prints. Could that be your................................pony tail?

There is something special about just roaming around in the wild with a good rifle and nothing particular about the walk. Looks like a nice time you had there.

I enjoyed those photos, Pitchy. Good to see your house again. It looks like you got the fire stoked nicely.

Re: A cold walk with the 76
Yep. Same here. Dunno why. My city friends ask me "What's the point; why do you have to have a gun when you walk in the woods?" I'm not sure myself, other than it just feels like I'm supposed to somehow...ethang wrote:There is something special about just roaming around in the wild with a good rifle and nothing particular about the walk. Thanks Guys, next walk will be with the Marlin 1895 Cowboy and Ruger vaquero
The Marlin is one of my favorites because it only weighs 7 lbs yet in the 45-70 cal., I love the Winchesters but that Cowboy is hard to beat for carrying .

Re: A cold walk with the 76
Pitchy, it does look mighty peaceful out there in your woods. I almost hesitate to bring it up, but the one thing missing is Snoopy, all bundled up and riding in a sled, bless his little heart.
We had similar temps here. Got down to 27 below last night, and now, just past noon, it is a balmy 5 degrees.

Re: A cold walk with the 76
Sheesh , -10, and Don talkin about even colder temps .
It was cold enough here for me in Oklahoma yesterday with 3 degree wind chill.
3 degrees and I was wearing 2 layers of Under Armour, 1 ECWCS base layer and a sweatshirt topped with a Carhartt jacket. Pants were jeans with one layer of Under Armour underneath and I used my new Sorels with some thick socks . The layers on the torso were adequate, my legs and rear were furr-eezing, but the toes/feet were ok ---
--- I do not know how you folks in the colder climes do it - much respect
