An Old Friend Could Use Some Knee-Mail
A old friend in is hospital in Grand Rapids, MI from a fall from his tree stand. He's pretty well mangled with internal injuries, broken back, shattered pelvis, ruined ankle. Any good thoughts and prayers you could offer up to Don Meyers would be appreciated. Thanks

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

Your friend Don is on my list. Scary when you fall from a stand. I did about 12 feet once which knocked the wind out of me. You can't imagine how many times I thanked our Creator for not having any serious injuries.

Re: An Old Friend Could Use Some Knee-Mail
Done. Back in Jump School during the week on the line and on the Slam Dunk (Swing Landing Trainer), I was put on the platform that one of the BlackHats, a female Sergeant whose last name was Favor. Sgt. Favor weighed about 120, and with the rope and pulley setup the BlackHats could keep you from falling too fast even if you weighed up to about 40 pounds more than they did. The BlackHat who sent me to that particular platform seriously misjudged my weight. The platform is 10 feet above a sawdust pit. I stepped off and swung forward and went straight down on my back and Sgt. Favor went forward about 15 feet and barely missed smashing her head against one of the 6X6 posts. When she could see something other than stars, she ordered me back up onto the platform. I somehow dragged myself out of the harness and went back up on the platform. My turn came again and Sgt. Favor went forward and hit the post this time. I only knew that because I was told about it after the smelling salts. She did not run the ground rope on the slam dunk again while I was there, and I was given the rest of the day off to recover. Knowing what it feels like to land in 2 feet of sawdust after falling 10 feet, I can get a pretty good idea of what your friend feels like. Prayers sent and will be sent daily for about 6 to 8 weeks.

Easily done, Blaine - since I suffered a (ladder) treestand attachment failure & fall, about 30 years ago.
I was luckier than your friend Don, since I was fortunate to fall on my back, but between two boulders ILO atop one - I only had the wind taken out of me, and got a quick education in the bargain.
In addition to my prayers, please give him my best wishes for a positive convalescence.
