Very kewl. Tell me how you form the shape for the boat. Do you use a break to bend the metal or do you form it manually? Welded?

Cut with a tin snips and bent by hand then welded, wire feed.rjohns94 wrote:Very kewl. Tell me how you form the shape for the boat. Do you use a break to bend the metal or do you form it manually? Welded?

Re: Take one old wind-up phonograph motor
That is great. Now all it needs is a deck gun. It would have to start off as a handgun, to keep it easily legal, or you could make a muzzle-loading tube and do almost anything with it.
Thanks for showing that.

I'd say your putting that mildly. If there was ever a guy who keeps things interesting, it be the Pitchster.O.S.O.K. wrote:Pitchy, you're a genius

Now, Pitchy, here's a challenge for ya......With your subzero weather your having, (even we got down to 6 last night). Let's see you turn that baby into an icebreaker. ----6

Pitchy needs to start designing firearms. I sense a little JMB getting channeled there.

Sixgun the ice is so thick up here the boat would have to have a flame thrower up front to melt the ice, wait hmmmmmmmm.

Seriously though, you're one clever dude. Remind me a lot of some of our locals. The "real" Mainers. Survivors of the first order.

Re: Take one old wind-up phonograph motor
Thanks gents, I`ll probably test her out in a tub of water before then, in fact had it in one this morn just to see if it would move. Prop speed is only 78 rpm which is slow and it barely moved with the two blade prop on it. I`m going to experiment with prop design first before gearing it up.

Increase the prop size or multiple props on single shaft?Pitchy wrote:Thanks gents, I`ll probably test her out in a tub of water before then, in fact had it in one this morn just to see if it would move. Yepper that`s the kind of experimenting I have to do, I like the slow prop speed if I can make it work.jeepnik wrote:Increase the prop size or multiple props on single shaft?Pitchy wrote:Thanks gents, I`ll probably test her out in a tub of water before then, in fact had it in one this morn just to see if it would move. This boat weighs 27 lbs so it takes a little thrust to move it, the prop on it now is a 2 blade that`s 3 1/2 inch in dia. I can only go to about four inch but can make a three blade and like ya said multible props.
hanks.

As soon as it warms up a little we`ll fill a tank with water so I can experiment with the props.UncleBuck wrote:I was gonna say it'll be quite a while before that ship sees water that isn't frozen
