Need disassembly instructions for a Ithaca 72 Saddlegun

Post by Bullard4075 »

Son in law brought home a Ithaca 72 Saddlegun (22 mag) that needs to be taken apart and cleaned. My books do not
list this one. A search of this forum leads me to believe it might be similar to the Henry. It appears to be a pretty slick
little levergun. Anyone have disassembly instructions to share. Anyone that wishes to opine on good/bad points or
anything to look out for on this model is welcome. Thanks ahead of time. :D

The only thing that I can say is that I have one in .22LR.
If I can be of help, I will try.

Bullard4075,

If your Model 72 has a little screw near the trigger, then don't monkey with it. The screw does not adjust trigger-pull. The little screw is for adjusting the elevator, and it indicates an early model. Modern Henry H001-series rifles are very much like the Ithaca/ Erma/ Iver Johnson rifles. To help you with your problem, you can watch the Henry maintainance videos, here:

They were slick rifles. I have also heard they are just like the Henry inside.
