Mescalero asked about the P3AT

So as not to further hijack Ted's thread:

Locked breech. It's an ugly, painful to shoot mouse gun. It was $260 new in box and shoots where I point. Ruger copied it in the LCP. The Ruger is a bit nicer in fit and finish and adds a manual slide-stop.

It was new in this pic. I've added stick-on sandpaper to the slide and a chunk of knead type epoxy to widen the rear where it contacts the web of my hand. I've not been without it, even when carrying other guns since 2008 I think. That clip lasted about a year and the second one about six months. I don't have one on it anymore. One really great add-on was a pencil eraser super-glued behind the trigger as an overtravel stop. I can't believe that this many years in my pocket later and 50 rounds a month it still lives there.

Tycer

The reason I carry the Star is a locked breech.

My erstwhile friend had the Kel-Tec, and I have the LCP....they don't really recoil, but, they are so light that they both jump up and mangle the top of my trigger finger....Two magazines will draw blood. As we know, comfort will be forgotten when you really need to shoot it.

I had to chuckle at your DIY fixes. My old firearms instructor on the PD would have had a stroke about those. He did not like or allow much of anything added on to duty or off-duty guns, home made or manufactured, it did not matter.
For a while, I carried my SIG 225 with a slip on rubber grip cover, as the plastic grip was pretty slick. It was well made, specifically for that pistol and did not move once in place. This was my personally owned pistol. I would remove the slip on when going to the department range for qualification days. Well, I forgot to remove it once. As I was leaving, he spotted it. Things got really nasty for a few minutes. I am sure that after that day I was added to the list of horror stories about "tractor tire inner tubes"(his favorite phrase) used for grips, and other scary tales.

I carry a Kel Tec P3AT in my pocket everyday. I recently had a chance to change it to a Ruger LCP.
I looked both of them over and decided that I liked my Kel Tec better so I just kept it.

I recognize that yellow handled knife in the photo. If Tycer is down to using it, then someone will need to be stitched up by an industrial sewing machine. That knife is as sharp as a straight razor and has a wider blade so that the edge doesn't roll up when it hits anything tougher than skin or whiskers. Ricky is the only other person I know who can sharpen a knife that well.
