.32-.20

Post by Mescalero »

At the same fun store was a S&W .32-.20? 5" barrel fixed sight, all chrome with the gaudyest looking white grips I have ever seen.
$230.00.

I am going up there next week, I will actually look at it then.
I am thinking one of 7.62's paint jobs and a BoMar rib, could get interesting.

If it is already that gaudy, you may as well dress it up the way you want it. 8)

I usually don't get too jealous of your handgun carry laws but a nice little 32-20 to go with my 92 makes me a bit green.

When you say chrome is that the same as nickel or an after market chrome job?

I'd REALLY like a Ruger SP-101 rechambered in 32-20 - it would be a PERFECT compact revolver for self-defense.

I realize the 32 H&R is 'just as good' and the 32 Fed Mag is 'better', according to some pundits, but other than making me go deaf sooner with their really hot loads in that short barrel, I doubt they would do any better job than a reasonable 'modern' 32-20 load.

Besides, it would go with my Marlin levergun and Remington pump.

I keep bumping into threads about some guy named Skeeter Skelton who seemed fond of a 32-20 revolver. However what would the long gone old fellow know about guns in a modern world. :D

How do you know it's chrome and not nickel ?

You say gaudy grips? Could they be mother of pearl?-

#3. Are you sure it's a S&W and not a 10 cent Spanish repo from the same time period?--6

No,
I am not sure it is a Spanish repro.
I did not handle it.

Have the shop verify and guarantee that it is truly a S&W. The Spanish copies are worthless and can sometimes be dangerous. Then under good light check the barrel very carefully for internal bulges. They are more prone in .32-20 revolvers than other calibers.

Good morning
Fine caliber and IF it is a S&W. I would buy it if the timing is OK and as mentioned the barrel is right. Is this a 4 inch ? Grips can get changed. Sounds like it is set up to be a light weight BBQ gun.
I like the caliber enough to have 2 rifles and built a Dan Wesson from 357 to 32-20 to have a good accurate well built revolver that can easily digest my loads I shoot in the Savage.
