Hobbys , Here are a couple pictures
Here are a couple knife projects that are done.
the first one from a store bought blade. I did the guard, handle and sheath. I am giving this one to my B I L who is an ardent elk hunter.
This next one I made from scratch. The blade I filed out by hand from 440C flat stock. I had it commercially heat treated by Texas knife supply. I made the guard, the handle is Ebony and I also made the sheath. This one I will give to the son of my hunting partner who passed a year ago.
Also an ardent hunter.
The next four pictures are of a folder I have been working on. I had no idea that there was that much involved in making one. This is my first folding knife but not my last. The mechanics of making it work so the back spring on a slip joint knife is even with the back of the handle when the blade is open,at the half stop (safety) and in the closed position is a real trick without proper fixtures.
I started today to build a 'rise and fall gauge fixture' to make it easier to do.
here it is in the home made block that was difficult to measure the spring height. The new fixture will have a dial indicator mounted so I can see the spring height at all positions.
Roughed out and on my temp fixture.
The finished knife. Moose antler handle scales, O1 tool steel blade and spring, brass bolsters and liners.
And here is another pattern I am working on. This one is a back lock drop point. This one will be all stainless with Buffalo handle scales.

Amazing. Those are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.

Chuck very nice knives. I make 18th century folders once in a while and people always think my price for one is too high. But not many people know how much work you have to put in a folder to make it work right. Keep up the good work. I really like the sander you made for making blades also.

Very nice work!
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

You need to put something like that in the classifieds here as an auction for all of us to fight over!

Re: Hobbys , Here are a couple pictures
Thanks for the fine comments guys. I started making knives about 30 years ago and due to
That thing called time along with making a living it was set aside for the last 20 + years. Now I have more time to go and play with my tools just for fun. I have given away every knife I have ever built.
There may be a Leverguns karma drawing in the future.
Working with my hands ,without having to ,is the best therapy possible for me.

Gorgeous knives man. That folder is way kool. I've made several knives so I appreciate what goes into them.

Chuck if you enjoy making them for therapy never sell one. Once you do it will become a job. I did that and regretted it.
