Cimarron offers several versions in 38WCF:

I've checked the local shops, and they all say there is nothing available. Who builds Cimarron?

Cimarron's 1873's are made in Italy by Uberti. I have two of their deluxe models, one is in 32wcf, the other is 44wcf. Both are excellent shooters.

You can buy a Uberti in 45LC and then buy a 38-40 barrel from VTI and swap them. This is what I did to convert my 1873 Pistol Grip to 38-40....

I've got a Cimarron 1866 in .45 Colt and a Cimarron Model P, Jr. in .32 WCF/.32 H&R mag.
Both are well made with what seems like a little better attention given to them than a run-of-the-mill Uberti.

If you can find one....The little bit of searching I've done shows them to not be in current production but not discontinued.
Maybe they will make a run of them soon or you can find a used one somewhere.

The 38-40 is a fantastic cartridge in the old originals, I have quite a few. I found a needle in a haystack. I didn't know that USFA made Colt Lightnings in 38-40. I found one on the Campfire and bought it. I am not a fan of clones and reproductions, but this gun is exquisitely made and slick as lightning...

Contact the good folk at Buffalo Arms Co. They show rifle and carbine versions as being in stock:

I made a few calls today but just got the "nope, not available". I don't see anything listed in .38WCF from Uberti.

Do a search of Cabela's Gun Library. It shows quite a few 38-40 rifles all around the country, pretty spendy though:

h stuff! I'm looking for a new repro for about 12 old Ben's. I've got my grandfathers '92 that make most of their offerings look like crow bars

If it doesn't need to be a 1873, there are current Winchester 1892 take downs in 38-40 (Japan) available.

I bought one and it is a work of art! Paid $1100 for it. Take-down feature is really neat.
