Cimarron 1911 .....

Post by J Miller »

Does anyone here have any actual experience with the Cimarron 1911 pistol?

I was actually perusing the site for a 7.5" single action but found the 1911. :D

If memory serves, I believe that 1911 is manufactured by Rock Island/Armscor. Remember that Cimarron is an importer/marketer, not a manufacturer.

I believe that is correct, and the same GI model (less Cimarron marks, naturally) is generally available around here for about $100 less. Good pistols, but the markings would not be worth anything extra to me.

Rock Island/ArmsCor 1911s are 100% solid no frills GI Axis-Killin Machines.

Whomever is importing them, they are great old-school 1911s.

Joe I'll be driving within a block of their retail store sometime tomorrow, in Fredericksburg Texas. There is rarely any parking available in that tourista town, but a couple good German restaurants make a parking search worthwhile.

I have two of the Armscor 1911 from Taylor's... and they're rock solid.

We've had several Rock Island 1911's in the family and even though I messed up one trying to make it feed better, they replaced the frame (!!!!) and did it at no charge. They are great guns and excellent product service.

Just saw their 1911 at the retail store. It was a blue one, nice simple 1911, for 450.00 $. This tells me it might be had a good bit cheaper somewhere else, as they are always high on their stuff. For instance, a model 87 12g was almost 1400.00$  I occasionally buy a holster there, never guns.

Bought an Armscor 1911 to test night sights on. Didn't get reimbursed, haven't been able to sell it, so I still have it. But I can say that I was pretty impressed with it. Functioned well and very accurate. I shot 1911s well anyway, but you know how you can just feel that a particular pistol is a good shooter? I kept photos of groups from the night sight testing. Some aftermarket grips might not be a perfect fit and some aftermarket mags don't drop free, but I was impressed, and the one from Cimarron you would not be putting any ugly rubber or plastic aftermarket grips on anyway.

It is indeed made by Armscor and yes they are good pistols. The Cimarron version has the 1911 (not the 1911A1) frame as well as the smooth flat MSH like the original 1911.
