Firearms instruction around Miami Florida...?
A couple friends are moving to that area and are new to firearms, but want to learn more, especially about self-defense topics - having just realized that all the mass-shootings seem to happen in 'gun-free' zones. Anyone in that area have any good resources to offer...? The guys are more the artsy-type vs. stereotypic gun owners, but I'd like to help them out. If they'd had their epiphany while still living in Indiana, I'm sure I could have helped them out myself.

"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

.
They might be able to glean something @ one of Florida's gun show CCW classes ($$), but I would suggest trying to contact the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (a state function/department), and find out if/when/where FL has (free) Hunter Safety classes.
Even though they might not want to hunt, I'm confident they could learn some good/safe firearms handling @ one of the classes.
Alternatively, if you're a NRA member, you can contact the NRA Member's Services to get the skinny.

Contact Garret Machine. He is a friend of mine and teaches fighting techniques involving armed and unarmed defense against criminals, active shooters, terrorists, etc. Extremely highly qualified, and the techniques are suitable for individuals, unlike many courses that teach military squad/team tactics (he teaches team tactic as well).
I have both worked with him and trained under him. I can provide an email address by PM.
