Ya, a lot better. I was really interested in a conversion for my G20 till I looked at the numbers. I suspect it could be run hotter in a Glock but has been kept down to prevent blowing 1911's apart.

The key # here is the cross sectional area of a .50 cal.

That is subjective.

No, that is an objective fact.

Cross section being key is highly subjective. In fact, a case can, and has been made many times, that sectional density trumps cross section.

lol. 850 ft lbs is over rated? Thats about 100 ft lbs more than a .357 and a bigger bullet. No one would call a .357 over rated. Whats over rated is the 40 short and weak, and the downloaded 10mm that matches it for the people and 1911's that couldn't handle it.

The article was talking about a 185grain 50. What the heck is that? A marble?

That was my thought. It seems nothing was done to take advantage of the much larger case capacity than to increase bullet diameter. I mean they must be using a wad or trail boss for it to be going as slow as it is. When I found those a few years back I got a little excited at the obvious possibilities and I fully expected to see a 300gr bullet doing 1000fps or better. THAT would justify the lower capacity to me. When I saw the ballistics I at first was really confused. As I stated earlier, I'm positive the reason is the 1911 couldn't handle it and that is the original platform.
