Suppressor Qustion
Is the Tax Stamp for the suppressor, or for the shooter. IOW, and you move one suppressor around between guns?

Re: Suppressor Qustion
It's for the suppressor. You can move it from one firearm to another.

Re: Suppressor Qustion
With the introduction of the Hearing Protection Act, and now a President that isn't so rabidly anti-2nd Amendment, hopefully soon the suppressor will be removed from the list of NFA items and will be able to be purchased over the counter.

Re: Suppressor Qustion
Yes but it'll still be a states rights thing I'm afraid. If they are legal in your state then no problem, if not legal then you are going to be SOL !
BROWN LABS MATTER !!
Re: Suppressor Qustion
Yes that true but it's also NOT for the suppressor it's for owner (which doesn't have to be individual person) AND the suppressor, you cannot sell it without them purchasing another tax stamp. (Unless you sell the "ownership" company inc or whatever with it)jeepnik wrote:It's for the suppressor. You can move it from one firearm to another.

Re: Suppressor Qustion
I believe the answer to the original question is the suppressor itself is taxed. I have a 22 suppressor that gets attached to a savage bolt gun, 2 10-22's, a Henry lever, and a Ruger Mark II handgun. I must be in possession of the gun d can and I am supposed to have the paperwork with me whenever the can is out of the safe. HTH

Re: Suppressor Qustion
I guess my point is is taxed for you and taxed again if you sell it. It's a whoever owns it tax.
Re: Suppressor Qustion
It will still be up to the individual states whether they permit them or not, just as it is with automatic weapons and SBR's.Bulldog wrote:With the introduction of the Hearing Protection Act, and now a President that isn't so rabidly anti-2nd Amendment, hopefully soon the suppressor will be removed from the list of NFA items and will be able to be purchased over the counter.

Re: Suppressor Qustion
Sort of...
You can't sue the state for not allowing sbr but you certainly can for hearing loss if they deny you a health / safety protection approved (recommeded?) by the federal government.

Re: Suppressor Qustion
Well, you can try. What with hearing protection plugs going for a few pennies a set....David wrote:Sort of...
