1876 Winchester 50 cal. Express rifle

Post by Dusty Texian »

Just completed the re-barrel job on my Winchester 1876 Express rifle. The loads that have been tested in it thus far are the 300gr .510 soft lead over a case full of 2ff Swiss Bp. std. win. lg. rifle primer . This load shows good promise and is a real blast! Next will try the .350 gr. lead .510 bullet. Recoil is there but not excessive .Hope to try the Express rifle on wild hog soon.

Thanks for the replies. hfcable that is a Dandy. Good luck on the Moose hunt, no telling how many have fallen to the old .50/95 wcf. Would be interested in your load. Have been shooting the 300gr. soft lead @510" in this one. Have some 350gr bullets same style the round blunt , will test the 350's next . This one has a new barrel cut rifle and a ROT of 1-48". ,,Should handle the 350's no prob. ,,DT

.

Both of those 1876's emit a very alluring glow, just begging to go out for a hunt ! !

Very nice.

Good luck, with them, to both of you.

Nice looking rifle. A big slug like that should put a serious hurt on just about anything.

It's no great secret I'm not a big fan of Winchester's these days unless it's to turn them over for profit .

However ............................................. ,

The Model 1876 in 50-95 and the 1886 in 50-100 or 50-110 have always and still intrest me a great deal .
