Yep, I've gone on tours of some old mansions and ranch houses. They had period clothes on display. Amazing on how much the human population has increased in average height. Even the furniture shows how much smaller they were. My mom had her great grandmothers bed and at 6' tall I could only stretch out on it if I laid corner to corner and then it was still a tight fit.

It gets worse. Visit the Tower of London if you ever get a chance and look at the suits of armor and other implements on display. Folks were much smaller then. They have a couple of suits of armor for folks who were considered "giants" in those days and I would not be able to squeeze into one of them.
That old photo is from a tintype, tintypes came out of the camera "backwards" ie: mirror reversed. This is one reson Billy the Kid was considered left handed....that famous photo of him was a tintype that made it appear that way.
