My new .250-3000 was delivered today
Used to hunt with a Model 99 Takedown in .250-3000 with a Lyman Alaskan scope on it. Damaged rotator cuffs can't handle weighty guns so I decided I need a lightweight .250. Called Savage and discussed the possibility, then had my local dealer place the order. It's a Model 11 Light Weight Hunter and with the scope it's about all my achy shoulders can support. Hope to sight it in tomorrow or Wednesday because there's a pig hunt this weekend! And yes, the action is the German inspired 'side lever'!

It looks like a keeper. Enjoy it. I don't think I've shot a long gun since my shoulder replacement. I feel your pain.

Such a wonderfully capable cartridge that punches well above its weight class. Can't wait to read your range reports.

Nice rifle. I'm sorry to hear about your physical problems. The tenderness (pain) of shoulders and the resultant loss of strength is, to say the least, disappointing to us older folks...

Had a Remington Classic in 250. I think you will enjoy working with this rifle.

Congrats on the new rifle. It's very cool that Savage is keeping this cartridge alive.

I have a Ruger ultra light in .250 Savage - it's a real joy for an old man to carry......

.250 works as well in a light weight bolt gun as it did in my 99 Takedown. About lunch time last Saturday I got into position and popped a young pig with it. Range was +/- 75 yds so a head shot was no problem. You might note that 'Curly' as I named him has curly hair with lighter tips on the hairs, according to the rancher that's sure sign of Rooshian Boar genes. Guess I'll have to eat barbeque pork with a side of potato vodka!

Looks like a nice sized porker. A russian vodka used with that meal should be quite good. I hope you enjoy the meal.

Yes, good luck on both counts.
The last deer I got in Maine was shot with my .250 Savage (Model 99A) -- and it was the first time I've ever seen the rifle bullet hit the spot I was aiming at! I didn't expect that, but it was cool. And the light-recoiling rifle was as deadly as needed on the big doe.
Have fun!

My grandfather's favorite rifle was his Model 70 in .250-3000, he bagged a ton of critters with that rifle. My dad still has it and shoots tiny little groups.
Have fun with your new Savage!
