Re: New Ruger Handgun
I'll be darned. Should win back some of the low-end .22 market from the Heritage sixguns.
Re: New Ruger Handgun
Already got a single six with the dual cylinders, but I'd be tempted.
That MSRP will have the store price at $180 or so?
Might be a good little truck camper or kit gun.

Re: New Ruger Handgun
That could be a fun toy. .22lr ammunition is no longer in short supply, and it should be about the right size for comfortable carry.

Re: New Ruger Handgun
Hey! A Ruger Frontier Scout.....without the half cock.
Looks heavy, however.
I know I'm the only one, but I never cared for Ruger .22 revolvers. The single six is too heavy for a .22. The Bearcat is too small. And I only like the 3 screws. I do have a .22/45 Lite that I like.
That's why I always stuck with my old Colt Scout.
Glad to see a new model, though.

"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Re: New Ruger Handgun
I saw a video of Mr. Gunblast shooting it. Some cyls were tight with no leakage, and some were spittin' fire....Hmmmm

Pretty little revolver.
I'd bite if it were DA.

Re: New Ruger Handgun
It looks to be the same size as the first single six`s. My first good handgun was a convertible single six I bought new in 1962. I shot that gun more than most my guns since put together. It was stolen on me years ago. I found this one that looked unfired and snagged it. This one is made about 1957. So I dont need another.

Strange but I don't think "need" ever has ever been a part of my gun buying ....Booger Bill wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 10:14 am It looks to be the same size as the first single six`s. Re: New Ruger Handgun
My heavens Ruger is getting back to their roots. An affordable and I hope well made handgun. I’ll probably buy one. But those sights aren’t for old eyes. I do hope the POA & POI are the same.

Just 22lr? Not 22lr/22 mag?
Obviously Ruger has noticed the success of the Heritage Firearms company and aims to take a slice of that market.
I could definitely see one of these in my future. Or a Heritage.

I withdraw my enthusiastic first impression pending a full and persuasive explanation of "cast zinc alloy" grip frame. I still regard zinc as something to attach to the bottom of my boat to protect the more noble metals.....

Re: New Ruger Handgun //// UPDATED
Grizz, zinc does make a good sacrificial anode for protecting other metals, but an alloy will have quite different properties than the one metal alone has. Many modern alloys are stronger and/or harder than the original metal ever could be. Anodized aluminum has been electrically alloyed on the surface, and can be as hard as steel while not rusting like steel.

Re: New Ruger Handgun //// UPDATED
As seen on the Ruger website, "The Wrangler™ is not available for sale in Minnesota and Massachusetts."
Based on every other "new" handgun Ruger has put out lately I would wait until after the recall before purchasing. Remember the Latest Crappy Pistol, Latest Crappy Revolver, etc. I carry an LCP II, so I'm not totalling knocking Ruger. I would just wait 6 months to be sure of any issues that need to be fixed before buying.

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
