New BATF Regs on Inline Muzzleloaders
.
BATF has classified inline muzzleloaders that utilize a metallic cartridge primer as being a "firearm" under GCA-68, to which all encumbent transfer laws apply.

Haw. Now watch the scramble to convert these to fire with a percussion cap. Never had much use for inlines myself, but understand their appeal in some states with multiple seasons.

That’s to prevent them from being converted to fully semiautomatic fire.

The dates mentioned in this download are in 1997......
A lot of shotgun primered muzzleloaders have been sold since then......
As an experiment, after I read this original post, I went to cabelas (website) and placed a t/c impact in the shopping cart but removed it before final ordering step.
Did the same at sportsman's guide and muzzle-loaders......no problems.

I bought one of the Remington 700 Ultimate Muzzleloaders about a month or so ago and had to do the paperwork . https://www.remington.com/rifles/muzzle ... zzleloader

The first generation of these used a .25 acp case for priming......6pt-sika wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 9:54 pm I bought one of the Remington 700 Ultimate Muzzleloaders about a month or so ago and had to do the paperwork . https://www.remington.com/rifles/muzzle ... zzleloader
The ones sold new now use a purpose built case that is externally similar to a .45 acp case so that if the vent cone is removed from the breechplug, you would have a functioning smoothbore with a very short barrel that would (theoretically at least) fire a loaded .45 acp.
Again, muzzle-loaders.com allowed me to place one ultimate 700 muzzleloader in cart with no "f.f.l. required" flag but I obviously did not go through with the $999 + shipping purchase.
Williams gunsite's used guns department out of michigan will not sale a T/C encore M.L. without an f.f.l. due to the frame being a firearm and would not sell me a remington with the old .25 acp. priming without an f.f.l. due to the possibility (however didfficult or unlikely) of firing a loaded round through it.
