Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
Was reminded once again this morning why this outfit makes me mad. The inside diameter of Hornady shell holders is about .296. The inside diameter of RCBS shell holders is .265. RCBS shell holders will not fit the shaft of the Hornady case trimmer. This makes the trimmer totally useless unless I buy a bunch of Hornady shell holders to replace the perfectly fine RCBS stuff.
Re: Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
I remember turning the shaft down on mine to use the RCBS ones. I have the Lyman now with the ball chuck .

Re: Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
Marvin, guess I could try chucking the shaft in my drill press and applying emery cloth. Thanks for the suggestion. Must ... get .. blood pressure .. under control ...
Re: Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
IIRC the big knob might be in the way. With a lathe it would go in behind the chuck jaws, but that’s been 25 or so years ago.

Re: Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
I too had that problem- I bought a Hornady case prep center, included was a set of shell holders. Since I was trimming thousands of mil brass I needed a power option.

Gunny, that's the elegant solution, but not inexpensive.
Did I mention I dislike case trimming more than colonoscopies?

This post reminded me of Sears tools......just about everything they sold and needed refills, such as staples, sanding belts, etc. was a few thousandths different from mainstream.....
I use a Forster trimmer that I converted to use a drill to power it....also have a Forster trimmer made for the drill press.....can knock out thousands with dat one.-----6

Re: Hornady --- GRRRRRRR!
WRT reloading, I started with Lyman and stuck with it- have never used Hornady equipment - so no gripes there.
My Hornady opinion is a plus and minus!
A big THANK YOU for loading good ammo for the .405 WCF a few years back.
A big BOO for not loading .405 ammo now!
Maybe the fact that Winchester has made a new run of the 1895 .405 rifles will cause Hornady to make more ammo for the new shooters.
