Yes I’ve shot the 22 TCM in a Rock Island Armory 1911 at of all places Armsco’s indoor range in Davao Philippines . The gun I shot appeared NIB when the range guys brought it out . Might add we rented a RIA 1911 in 9mm as well and it appeared NIB as well . As to the TCM it was easy to handle as you’d assume . Only downside I saw or rather heard was it seemed a good bit louder than the 9mm.

Re: .22 tcm
A few years ago I was intrigued by the "9 mm vs 45 ACP debate" and several respected friends had joined the Dark Side of the 9mm, saying that they were faster with double-tap and followup shots with the Wimpy 9...
So since my CCW gun was a double-stack (14 shot) 45 ACP in 1911 format (Para Ordnance P-14), I figured the only way to do a true test would be to get a 1911 in 9mm....
So I found a Rock Island Armory one at the local gun shop, and was fondling it, when I saw there was an extra barrel in the box. Turns out it came with a 22 TCM barrel...
The 22 TCM pushes a 40 grain bullet out a 1911 at over 2,000 FPS, so the ballistics are impressive...not quite to 22 Hornet/218 Bee levels, but considering it is coming out of a handgun, it is pretty fast, and out to 100 yards has little drop.
The only 'swap' needed is to field-strip the 1911, and replace the barrel AND spring, and you have an 18 shot 9 mm transformed into an 18 shot 22 TCM; same magazines and all.
As far as the 9 mm, I did reluctantly have to admit that I can shot just a tad faster with it than the 'identical' 45 ACP.
As far as the 22 TCM, I got a bunch (600 rounds) of ammo cheap - I think $120 at the time - and haven't reloaded any yet, but I did get dies. Factory ammo is quite accurate - far more accurate than I can shoot. Off a rest I was getting eight of ten shots in tennis-ball sized groups at 50 yards, the only real limitation being the sights are just not the 'gold bead centered in an aperture' that I like for iron-sighted guns (even handguns, when I can set them up that way). It also is potent enough to detonate Tannerite, which makes for much fun at 50 yards or more, because standing up they are quite a challenge to hit, everyone taking turns. Yes it is loud, but I wear hearing protection with all shooting, so I really didn't notice that much (it is much quieter than my 44 Mag Redhawk). Recoil is VERY mild compared to even the 9 mm, much less the 45 ACP.
Perhaps a 'range toy' but I'm not so sure. There would be application for protection for those wanting many shots, low recoil, and plenty of power. It would probably penetrate very thick clothing or whatever (it goes through my soft-steel 1/4" gongs but not the thicker ones). I don't know that I would hunt with it in a gun unless I put either aperture irons on it, or a scope, at least not the varmint-sized game it would take humanely.
I think I'd rather have my 1911 double-stack 9mm/22 TCM than a FN Five-seveN in 5.7x28, for three reasons:
a) I can swap back in the 9mm barrel and use good ol' 9mm ammo,
b) I like the standard 1911 format, since my muscle-memory already is programmed for that, and
c) the 22 TCM gets about the same velocity from a 40 grain bullet as the FN does from a 30 grain one.
Now if Ruger would offer a swappable barrel for their PC Charger 9mm in 22 TCM I'd sure be all over that....!!! Slip a suppressor on it to dampen the report, even...

The ammo unless I’m mistaken is nothing more then a 9mm case necked down to 22 cal .

Re: .22 tcm
Incidentally Armsco offers a somewhat inexpensive bolt action rifle for the 22 TCM . I came very very close to buying the little rifle when I got home in November of 2018 after having shot the RIA 1911 22 TCM . But after some thought I passed on the idea .

I have a TC Contender G2 with a 20” barrel and factory ammo is running 2800 fps. It’s quite deadly on the prairie dogs, badgers and coyotes. I reload for it also and have the bloody finger tips to go with it

Re: .22 tcm
....sort of....the 9mm would be too short once necked down, so it is based on the 223 case I think. Not sure if the base/web is as thick though.

Re: .22 tcm
the shellholder that comes with the .22 tcm die set is for the .222 remington head size (and .380 acp).....some 9x19mm brass will fit it, others will not....
If it was originally based on the luger's .393" case head then it is either the 9x21mm or 9x23mm or 7.63x24mm. The 9mm luger will be too short.

Re: .22 tcm
I've toyed with getting this set up as well. Only thing that has prevented me from doing so is...
(1) I don't need another 9mm pistol
(2) I don't need another caliber to stock and reload
(3) $$$ due to the above (competing priorities)
That said, I've rarely let "need" define what I end up wanting and getting. It just allows me to be more patient.
If I ever see this set up for $500 or less, I will grab it right then and there!

Have had mine for quite awhile now. Shoots great, will blow up an armadillo. Is based off of 223 case to handle higher pressure and uses 38 super mags. They also are making 22tcm9r which is same length as 9x19 so can use those mags. I fitted mine with a 38 super upper half as well.
Re: .22 tcm
I like handguns to make big holes and believe that the American approach that there is no substitute for cubic inches also applies to handgun calibers.
Having said that, there is much ado about the FN Five-Seven, a very expensive route to a high velocity, small caliber handgun. 22TCM gets you to the exact same place with a little more power for a lot less money. So if the concept - zippy little projectiles - is of interest, 22TCM seems to be the platform.
