Ride the Whirlwind 1966, written, produced and staring a young Jack Nicholson. It's a new to me Western, I'm halfway through it on the TV and it looks good so far.

+1 on this. I had a hard time tracking it down.

The 1940 version of Gaslight. The 1944 version has more famous actors but is not as good a movie. I think the 1940 version is English, not Hollywood.
This is, of course, the source of the phrase to "gaslight" someone.
The 1940 version has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating, which I've seen very few of. Breaker Morant is another example of a 100% rating. I'm sure you've all seen that one though.

Speaking of remakes....I love the Coen brothers' movie "The Ladykillers". Absolutely laugh myself to tears every time I watch it. But it's a remake. The 1955 version (it's a UK product) is pretty darn good.Rimfire McNutjob wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:41 pm The 1940 version of Gaslight. Oklahoma Crude 1973 comedy Western drama, lots of leveractions. Faye Dunaway, Jack Palance, George C Scott, Stacey Keach and John Mills.
Faye Dunaway seems to know her way around a Leveraction too...

Another wry gem from 1961 is "The Last Time I Saw Archie," starring Robert Mitchum and Jack Webb. Mitchum portrays Archie Hall, a glib conniver drafted in 1944. Webb portrays William Bowers, Hall's dominated friend. A key to this movie is that there was an Archie Hall, and there was a William Bowers. Both were well known Hollywood residents who worked in the entertainment industry after World War II. Some of you may recognize Bowers as screenwriter for many motion pictures — for example "The Sheepman" (1958) with Glenn Ford and Shirley MacLaine
Oh, did I mention that Hall sued Bowers for his portrayal in "The Last Time I Saw Archie"?

Thanks for reminding me! That was a fun movie. Selleck at his best, Bess cute as a bug, and fantastic scenery. Plus airplanes. What's not to like?
