A nice surprise in the mail today!
A set of ivory grips for my 1911!
My first thought was, "Dang! I am gonna have to buy a nice gun to put these on!" But I stuck them on my old cheap 1911 and they sure feel nice. Like the $10 horse with the $40 saddle, this is sorta a $300 gun with $500 grips.
EDIT: The grips were made by Paul Persinger in El Paso. He informs me that they are only $250 for the 1911. Still and all .... I really appreciate the gift.

I would drop em into a cup of strong tea overnight. Gives em that older look to match the gun.
Re: A nice surprise in the mail today!
Yessir I could do that ... but I think I will just let them age naturally. Like me.

Them is purty grips Jim. $250? Mmm, makes a guy think.
What's the story behind the finish on that .45? Come that way or what? I know it's a cheap one, but it's got some really clean lines. Looks well made.

The gun was all blued when I got it new. Carrying it most every day it got worn looking in spots ... actually major worn looking. So I started to refinish it. I used a commercial rust and blueing remover. After I got it cleaned up I decided I liked the "old" look and just left it.Catshooter wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 5:53 pm Them is purty grips Jim. $250? Paul Persinger does some really nice grips. I have his work on quite a few of my guns.

It's a nice looking 1911.
Wow! Yes, I'd have to agree the man does nice work. Thanks for the pics.
Edit: I've looked on the 'puter and can't find any way to contact Paul. Do you have any contact info?

No. Paul has never had his business on the internet that I know of. I have been friends with him since the 1980's. Call him. He's an interesting man. Very personable.Catshooter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 10:03 pm Thank you both. He doesn't have a website I take it.

I think I will Jim. I have an old 1911 that could use some new shoes. Thanks.
