Stevens 425
Hello, I am new to the forum, I live in British Columbia, Canada, I love my lever guns, I have been collecting for some time,I recently stumbled accross a Stevens 425 in 30 rem, serial # 4600, shes a bit rough but seem to function properly, I havent fired it yet, I have made a made a few light hand loads just waiting till I can get out to shoot it. I came accross the thread from a few years back that was counting the 425s, I believe the gentlemens name was Peter. Does anyone know if he is still collecting numbers? On a different note, I picked up an Ithaca model 49, I do not have it yet, but it is on its way.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't know anything about them but had to look that model up. It looks like something pretty rare and unique and valuable.
I'm betting some of the guys here know quite a bit about them.

Welcome to the fire...
I'd never heard of the Stevens 425 but with a production run of only a few years they must be pretty scarce. The Ithaca 49 is a fun little gun, I briefly had one in .22mag it was quite accurate.

Welcome to the forum! When I saw the title I thought it was a resurrection of the old thread. We'll see who chimes in on this one. Had to do a search on the Ithaca. I've never seen one, only pics. Interesting looking rifle. I hope you'll share with us how it works out for you.

Scroll down to where you can see "Options" and "Attachments" tabs.
Click on attachments.
Click "Add files" - this opens up a popup window (if you have popups blocked, allow them for this forum - they are ONLY used here for uploading pics and such)
Select the file you want to upload. Once it loads, you can click on "Place inline" which will place the pic wherever you have the cursor, which is why I usually hit "Enter" a couple of times prior to clicking "Place inline", like so.
Repeat the "add files" etc for the rest of the pics you want to share. You can then Preview or Submit at once. I usually preview to make sure the pic lines up like I expect and the text flows around it properly.

Yes, what Paul said about the pictures. And the Leverguns site doesn't allow high resolution pictures; When I keep mine at or under 900 pixels in width I seem to no longer get them rejected. And a big "Welcome!" to a fellow bringing a very interesting levergun to the camp fire.

That's a very cool old levergun, Kenworth. Eager to hear how she shoots.

Re: Stevens 425
I had one several decades ago, and they're a great levergun. They are extremely rare, and I never see them anymore. But they've never been extremely valuable compared to the Win., Marlin, or Savage leverguns. Just doesn't seem to be a huge fan base, and if they don't function perfectly they're impossible to get parts for.

Re: Stevens 425
The most info on the 425 I've seen is on the "Savage Collectors" forum of www.24hourcampfire.com. I think the guy that was collecting serial numbers of 425s is on that forum. Decent guys there, too.
