I've owned, shot, and carried 1911s in one form or another for over 30 years. Full size, Commanders, LW Commanders, even a couple Officers (ain't doin that again). The one thing they've ALL had in common was they were chambered as God and JMB intended.
The last couple years I've been contemplating a Commander in 9mm (this is a confession). So, I sold a Glock 21 I didn't use, a set of tires that don't fit any of my vehicles, and bought this Springfield Ronin LW in 9mm. I would have bought a Colt, but the Springfield has a ramped barrel, while the Colt didn't. Thought that may be better with the LW.
It's mostly how I like them. Single side safety (albeit a little more extended than I like), and no frills. I don't care for the two dots on the rear sight. I don't like anything on my rear sights, but not much comes that way these days.
And being an old curmudgeon, I'm not sure about the new fangled fiber optic front. Rather a gold bead on a square post, but oh well.
I stripped it and looked it over, wiped off the factory ooze, and lubed it up.
If it warms up I'll get out and try it.
If someone sees me, I guess I can say it's my wife's pistol.
