New gun day.
Happy as a pig in .....poop!
Got me a Mossberg 410.
Barely a mark on it and still thick in packing grease it's as new!
Only had it a few days and it's filled a cart full of varmints. Dug out my reloading kit and finished off the h110 and now finishing off a can of 2400.
1/2 Oz plus reloads work way better than most factory Gotta make a better case head sizer though. Little side project at work today

They are cool guns Nath!! I bought mine in the '70's for about $80.00. I shot a lot of skeet with those 1/2 oz loads and h110 . Have Fun. .

Congratulations Nath, I have often been tempted by those sleek little Mossberg's I never had a problem with any of the Mossberg's I've had over the years.

Kid# 1 has one. Great little shotgun that's had 4-500 shells through it now without a single issue.
Have fun!!

I like it all, Nath -- from the smiles on your and Jess's faces to the sleek Mossberg lines to that swell reloading outfit you have there. Those shells look perfect. Are you roll-crimping with a drill bit?
I have a little Turkish O/U in .410 that I need to actually use.

Re: New gun day.
I love .410 shotguns. Always wanted a Savage double.
Re: New gun day.
410 prices have gone nuts in the last two years (actually they've always been disproportionately more $ than other gauges, like 20 ga, etc).
I have what I believe is one of the best single shot 410's ever made ; a Savage Model 220 hammerless. Have searched for this shotgun in other gauges, but never have been successful.

Old girlfriend has one and really liked it.
Re: New gun day.
As far as prices, the 28 gauge us more available everywhere I shop, and is cheaper, too. Not sure why. It was about 10 years ago that I saw 28 gauge in the stores for the first time in my life. Used to see 410 all over for about $10 to $15 per box, but now it is $25 or more IF you can even find it.

Nath,
The Mossberg 410 pumps are neat little guns, glad to hear you scored one. It's a darn good thing you reload those little 410 gems !

Re: New gun day.
I'm with TraderVic--the Savage 220 is the best single shot in any guage. My .410 has an added Savage 219 .22 Hornet barrel that I found in a "barrel of barrels" in an old gunshop in northern Maine. Outside was near cherry; bore was a mess. Once I found out that it would drop onto the receiver of my 220, I had a gunsmith in Oregon reline the bore to new. Put a Leupold 2.5x Compact on it and have used it ever since 1992 as my "walking varminter." Kills stuff. The .410 barrel does too--mainly bunnies and California quail.
My first gun was a Winchester Model 37 "Steelbilt" .410 single. Cost me $23.50 brand new in 1951 when I was 8, from the local hardware store. The hard part was making the $23.50 over and above what I needed for new school clothes and shoes! The easy part was walking into the hardware, laying my money down (plus six bits for a box of 3" 6s) and walking down the main street of Santa Rosa CA with that red and yellow box to wait for my mom to get back from the Farm Bureau store. And then help her unload the steel fence posts and bobwire. Still have that 37.
.410s get a lot of bad press, and they aren't a primo wingshooting gun for everyone. But they are so handy in many other ways.

Re: New gun day.
Thanks for posting Mike, I've handled a Savage 219 rifle and they're a sweet addition to any 220.
I've been looking for a 20 ga (220) forever and I learned last year Savage made a small number in 28 gauge. Either of these would be a "grail gun".

Re: New gun day.
Thanks gents for the super comments . I don't know why but a 410 has something about it for the err more discerning amongst us..
Yes bill a roll turn over bit for a drill.
The A2400 loads are just as potent as the h110 but more frugal by 2.5 gns.
