collecting guns like squirrels collect nuts

Post by plinkin pete »

Why cant I get enough guns, I also purchase knives that just sit in the gun cabinet? Soon after the last purchase I m looking for the next gun/knife that I dont need, is it me or do others suffer from this habit. :lol:Is there a rehab center for me? if so do they sell guns? Some days when I dont shoot I just need to work the action on something, as hard as I try I cant stop. Anybody have any deals on guns or knives? see there I go, dam just cant stop!

And you will get no help here - nothing but enablers.

I've been trying to sell off my "extras" but keep defeating the purpose by buying new ones... though I've made a little progress.... but mostly just changed mosin nagants, smle's and others into levers and AR's  :)

I have often thought of that. In my beginning years off collecting, I just wanted a "anything pre-war 1894", then it was a '92---then and '86..., 95.....then I needed the different calibers, barrel lengths, etc.

It comes down to the fact that we all need a little stimulus in the "happy department" from time to time and then "braggin' rights" to our buddies.

After all, its hard to brag about, "Yo dudes!, I just paid $2000 for a new transmission" :( or "Whoaaaaaaa, you gotta see the new washing machine I just got.- :( ---------Sixgun

I wish I could answer the question, as it's plagued me also! I wasn't raised around a lot of guns, but can't remember when I didn't know I'd own some when I grew up! Just seems to be an insatiable desire, with only a temporary relief with the occasional purchase.

as hard as I try I cant stop
Get married, add a teenage daughter headed to college, add two toddlers, 2 car notes, skyrocketing ammo and reloading prices, etc...

It dang sure didn't take long for me to learn that the only way to keep the inventory new was the "one in one out" principle. The wife helped me with that one

BTW...If you;ve already been thru all that, there is no cure. :D
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

I’ve pretty much have settled on what I’ve got in firearms. But with this political & economic climate for maybe the next decade, I’m storing up like crazy on reloading supplies.

Heck, I’m even getting into bullet casting now !

This problem you have is like the woman, everytime she sneezed she always had an orgasm. She went to the doctor and told him all about it, and he asked her "what are you doing to try and fix this problem?' Her answer was -----"sniffing pepper". As long as there is Gunbroker.com, catalogs, classified forums, and gun stores that one is frequenting 15 or 20 times a week, there will be no cure.

Man, does that sound familiar... :D

There is no cure. I thought a couple months ago when i finally bagged that ever elusive 1886 that I'd be done for a while.

Wrong! I bought that neat old Marlin the other day and have been obsessing over a 336 / 35 that they had too.

It never ends. You just learn to live with it :D

It could be worse. You could be like me and find guns hidden in your house that you forgot that you ever bought. Happened again a couple of days ago when I was looking behind my carpentry tool collection and found a soft case with a nice win 94 made in 41 that I bought years ago. I even forgot what I paid for it.

I've got the opposite problem. Somewhere in this house is a Russian Nagant revolver that I've put somewhere and can not remember where the H. I've put it!!!

2ndovc,
Rossi,.32 long double action revolver, stainless, was going to put it in the mill and mill a slot for an adjustable rear sight; you come to my house, find my Rossi, I'll go to yours& find your Mosin.
I bet they are both where we left them.

I have two more open spots in the gunsafe. Once they are full I'll have to do the one in one out routine. Of coarse there is spaces between guns in the safe.

What we need is an intervention. ANY ONE ? ANY ONE?

There is no hope for us!
