Anyone seen a pistol-gripped one in person yet? Or does Big 5 just have the straight-stockers still?

Hop on it boys, that is a dang good deal on a dang fine rifle! I sent 50 more rounds through my 464 again today, doing some load development. It's a tack driver!

I got mine with a Bushy 3x9 for 200. But 399 is still pretty good for a new "Winnie"

I'm in when the bugs get worked out and there is a caliber choice, say, 7-Waters....

Nahhhh, gots to be a 44 mag. I already have a marlin and rossi-puma. but I do prefer to stay with a caliber that I already load for.

Or less. I picked up a sweet .35 Rem. for $200.

I've had a couple in my hands. Screams "Cheap, cheap, cheap"!

Pass!

No offense Blaine. Just don't care for them.

What's the deal on these? Are they American made or an import? Don't look bad in the pictures I've seen. Anyone sen one up close? How's the workmanship?

Sure don't to P anybody off. I have nothing against Mossberg. Just don't like their new lever. I've looked at three or four WANTing to like them.
The 1/4" gaps around the tang were a turn off as well as it sounded like a empty pop can full of rocks when I worked the action.

I really hope they get it right!

Saw these at the SHOTSHOW in 2008. I presume they were some of their better specimans as they had them up for display for everyone to see. Big 5 is entirely the appropriate place for them to be sold.

I bought mine thru davidson's with lifetime warranty for $349+tax I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one have been very pleased with the gun, I would like to see more caliber options and darker wood tho. I am a true fan of the 7-30 waters lever gun.... might buy another one just to have it rebarreled to 7-30.

I must have got lucky mine don't have any gaps.....as far as the action goes it wasn't the smoothiest but after cycling it a few hundred times it smoothed up and feels well broke in now...

 I can't imagine Mossburg not stepping up and getting these right. They have always turned out pretty good stuff. Maybe not great stuff, but functional stuff for the everyday Joe.

I've been thinking about buying one. Almost every review has been positive. That's probably because Winchester is no longer making them.

My biggest concern is, given the proper load, will the thing shoot 1.5 to 2 inches at 100 yd with iron sights? I haven't actually handled one yet. If it will hold minute of deer, from what I've seen and read about them, I'm in.

Will it shoot 2" at 100 yards? Can't be sure there. Mine certainly might, given the right load, but I've not done it yet. I have not shot any factory through it yet -- I've been experimenting with Ranch Dog boolits and only two types of powder so far. I have lots of testing to still do.

Minute of deer? Absolutely. I have complete confidence in this rifle now, even with my testing incomplete. I am able to do 3-4 inch 5 shot groups to date, at an honest 50 yards. Many of those groups have 3-shots in 1"-2" range. So it depends on what you call 'groups'. It's pie-plate accurate for me, plenty enough for hunting.

I have a full write-up on the testing I've done so far, in another thread in the forum. I included some pictures. All of my shooting was done with a bone stock rifle/irons. I don't have a benchrest/sled, either. Just the handguard resting on a pillow on a table, shooting from a seated position.

It's what is making this 464 I have out to be my favorite rifle... I am a scrounger anyhow (brass, boolits, etc.) and to be able to get a good rifle at that price is outstanding.

That's what appealed to me about the Mossberg - it appeared to be an acceptable hunting rifle at a good price.

This has been said a million times, but we see far too many extras on rifles these days - bling if you will - which looks pretty but doesn't help. High gloss stocks. Gold triggers. Crappy scopes attached to rifles to get people to buy the thing.

Give me a solid platform that I can use out of the box. If I feel like it or have the money, I'll fix it up over time.
Safe Shooting! :)

Mossberg seems to think it's strong as well. One of the options when they asked 'what caliber should we introduce next?' was 444 Marlin. That is quite a stout round.

I think it is plenty strong enough to offer a large selection of calibers . I would like to convert one to 7-30 waters and maybe a trapper version.
